Pain.
Throbbing.
Everything was still black but the silence had disappeared. I was used to passing out. It had been happening for about a year, but never this bad. Never this painful.
"Is she waking up?" The voice sounded far away as if it was under water.
The burning continued to fill my lungs as I swallowed. My eyes blinked open and I realized I was on my back.
"Yeah, just give her some space." This time it sounded like Ami speaking.
I felt vomit rising in my throat so before I could even speak, I had flung myself over, regurgitating my insides. I kept retching, gagging, as my vodka and coke made its reappearance in the grass beside my head. I continued spitting, wiping my mouth and throwing up again. I couldn't care less who was watching.
When I had finally finished, I rolled back over and wiped the sweat from my forehead.
"Well look who's bringing sexy back." Emily sarcastically stated.
I stared at her until my eyes decided to come into focus. We were outside the club on the only remaining patch of grass. Ami looked concerned whereas Emily just looked disgusted. I took a deep breath, trying to lift my head.
"What the hell happened?" I asked.
"You had another one of your attacks. Scared the hell out of me Jess!" Ami replied in a motherly way.
Emily pulled out her pocket mirror from her bra, checking her face. She was annoying me now. Could she really not even pretend to care?
As soon as Ami sensed my anger, she started the conversation again.
"Don't worry, you were only out for a few minutes, you haven't missed anything." She let out a nervous chuckle.
"Okay. She's fine. Let's just go back in." Emily spitefully added.
"No, let's not." Ami replied, surprisingly angrily. "I've never seen her attack that bad." She turned to face me. "I saw you twitching so I tried to get to you but there were people everywhere. You were staggering around like your feet weren't working. And the you just went down. I managed to reach you but you were unconscious and shuddering as if there was an electric current going through you. It was seriously messed up."
"It's fine. I'm okay anyway. They're still playing, right?" That was a stupid question. I could already hear that they were still playing.
Ami was shocked. "Jess, no. Come on, we need to take you home."
"I'm fine, it always happens. You of all people know that."
"Yeah, but it's never been this bad!" She frowned at me. "Emily, tell her she can't go back in."
"Like there's any way we can stop her." She went back to checking her nails.
"Ha! Victory!" I fist pumped the air, making myself feel woozy. Sighing, I added to my sentence. "Fine, I'll stay at the back like a saddo."

We walked slowly back to the doors of the club, showing the bouncers the stamps on our wrists.
We stood at the back as we agreed and within ten seconds, I decided I liked the band. They were amazing. Unique. My heart pounded on my chest to the music and I clutched my chest to steady myself.
"THEY'RE AMAZING!" I shouted over the sound filling the room.
"I TOLD YOU SO!" Ami screamed back. "AND CHECK OUT THE GUITARIST!"
