I slowly opened my eyes and looked around. Where was I? I shivered as I went to stand up. What was this place? It looked like I was in a shed of some type. It was definitely dark outside and cold. I walked to the door and tried to open it. "What the-?" I started to panic. I searched for another way to get out. Nothing. I walked back to the door to look through the crack. I saw people standing in a circle and chanting. All of a sudden the chanting stopped and everyone turned towards my direction. Do they know I'm in here? Of course they do, they're standing in a circle chanting. What part of that doesn't scream creepy? "Oh crap, "I say as one of them started to walk my way. As the door started opening, I slowly walked backwards until I hit a wall. "Hello." A woman with bright green eyes and hair as dark as the midnight sky held her hand out to me. "I'm not here to hurt you, why don't you walk out here with me and I'll explain everything to you Lacey." "H-how do you know my name?" I stuttered in response. She chuckled as she looked me in the eyes. "Don't be so naïve." She walked towards me and grabbed my upper arm. "You are the reason we are here." She jerked me out of the shed and threw me into the middle of the circle of people. "Meet our sacrifice!" she bellowed out. I stood up quickly. "I have no idea who you are and what this is and what I have to do with anything." Everyone laughed and shook their heads in my direction. "Every 5 years we choose a 16-year-old girl and sacrifice her to the one who is the most powerful. You have been chosen by the towns elites, so you, Lacey Shield, should feel very honored."  I looked around hastily trying to find a way to escape. I couldn't scream, it wouldn't do any good. I was in the middle of nowhere when I should be back home, wrapped up in my blankets where I'm safe. But I'm not safe, not anymore. I've heard about girls my age disappearing every 5 years. And sadly I was chosen. "Why? Why are you doing this?" I looked around asked everyone single one of them. The leader, I presumed she is the leader, looked at me and then nodded to everyone. They all took each other's hands and moved in closer to me. "we, the elites, sacrifice this young girl, Lacey Shields, to the one and only most powerful. We hope you will take this sacrifice and be satisfied with what we have to offer on this lovely night." Everyone started to chant and sway back and forth as she was saying or reciting her craziness. All of a sudden I felt a cold hand touch my shoulder. I turned around and nothing was there. "No stop!" I yelled but they kept on chanting and swaying. Closing their eyes, they turned their heads toward the night sky. I looked up and saw the clouds part and the moon shine through. I began to cry. Everything around me began to spin and spiral out of control. I fell to the ground and cried out, "Please stop, please, I'm begging you." I looked up into the sky and tried to hold on as long as I could. I could feel the air being pulled out of my lungs. This I the end, I thought to myself. This is how I die. As a tear slipped out of my eye, I still heard them chanting. I saw a face come over me and enveloped me as the last bit of air left my lungs. A gasp slipped out and then darkness fell over .
