I gasped putting my hand over my mouth. We were in a small clearing in the woods, not too far from my house, in front of me was the most romantic thing I had ever seen in my life, there was some blankets thrown on to the floor with a few cushions for us to sit on and there was a cute a picnic basket and next to it a bunch of red tulips, how did he know they were my favourite? I dismissed the thought. Surrounding us was lots of candles placed decoratively in jars, alongside some lanterns on the corners of the main blanket covering the floor. My eyes started to well up, he went to all this effort me… for the second time in such a small space of time I appeared to be speechless, I couldn’t understand how he knew how to do this to me!
He looked at my face looking slightly unsure of what to think as I just stood there dumbfounded, he must have noticed the tears collecting in the corners of my hazel eyes,
“Sarah what’s wrong? Do you not like it? Is it too much? Oh Sarah I’m sorry…” I interrupted his desperate tone as I crushed my lips against his wrapping my arms around his neck, pulling his body closer to mine.
I took his head between my hands, looked him straight in the eye, “It’s perfect” I breathed.
He smiled and took my hand, “just like you then, I was so worried you weren’t happy then Sarah, I never want to see you cry again, I wanted to make this special, to show you I’m serious about you”
I giggled at that, “I cry over everything, I have absolutely no doubt you will end up seeing me cry again!”
He laughed “As long as it’s not because your upset, I’ll survive”
“I doubt you could ever make me cry” I replied confidently,
“I’d Never want to.”
He began leading me over to it, we sat down and he started taking out food. There was so much! And he had made so much effort, strawberries that had been dipped in chocolate, all sorts; you name it he thought of it!
“I wanted to do something special for you, Sarah I know we haven’t known each other for long but you’re different to other girls, I feel like we have a connection.”
“I feel the exact same way Connor, I thought I was just kidding myself, I mean look at you, and then look at me-“
“Sarah you are so beautiful, I was so sure you were going to knock me back, which is why I wasn’t going to say anything, I’m so glad I did now though, you are the most amazing girl I’ve ever met.”
We sat together talking about anything and everything our fingers intertwined, like two pieces from jigsaw puzzle they just fitted together perfectly, and they never separated throughout the whole conversation unless it was to initiate some other contact.
I ate so much! He was laughing as I groaned at my now bulging stomach, I wasn't your average teenage girl, I was hungry so I was going to eat!
“What I’ve got a big appetite; I’m not going not eat because I’m in the presence of a guy!” I confessed, I just felt so comfortable around him.
“Good, I’m glad you can relax around me, well to an extent, but I gotta admit, you look very cute when you blush!”
I giggled.
He spoke about how glad he was to have finished all his education, I moaned about having one year left thinking about my sixth form. I told him I had a younger sister Amelia who is 15, and an older brother Shaun who is 25. He told me he has a younger brother, Alex who is 19. It felt so perfect, like we had known each other years and not days.
He started to play with my hair, I love having my hair played with, it was the most relaxing thing ever in my mind, I snuggled into him further.
“I can feel your heartbeat” I whispered,
