the cliff

she was standing at the edge of a cliff
she looked down and thought
what would happen if I jumped?
she would fall, she would get hurt and eventually die
how did she know?
because she was told...
we're always told what would happen
but how can we be sure?
why do we believe words
when no actions prove them?

she was standing at the edge of that cliff
she looked down and thought
why am I living?
what is my aim?
all that to realise
she didn't have an answer
she didn't have a reason
a reason to be, to exist
something keeping her for drowning
in the ocean of her own problems

what is keeping us from drowning?
is it love? Is it the future?
those are just idealistic dreams

because love will break you
for your expectations are always too high
and the future is too dark and scary
so everyone tries to keep it from us
so is there really anything
anything at all
keeping us from drowning?

if you were at the edge of that cliff
would you have an answer to those questions?
or would you just drown?
