My name is Reign and I am a girl. I am one hundred and fourteen years old. Yet I still have the physical and mental state of a teenager.
I was discovered in the Arctic circle in 1900. A group of scientists in a small isolated facility were out on a small exploration, not far from their base. As they were moving against the chilling winds, they noticed that the air seemed to be getting milder. This confused them greatly. Not letting it bother them too much, they continued on, but only to find that the air was still getting warmer, and that the heat seemed to be radiating from beneath them through the thick ice.
It made no sense to them. What was causing this phenomenon?
They went back to the base to notify the others, and then went back out with a larger group of people with shovels and pick axes. It took a while to get to whatever it was, but the heat never ceased, so the were able to work on it without tiring too much.
When they finally saw, they were baffled. It was a large reptilian egg.
The egg was transported as fast as possible to a much larger sustainable research facility in northern British Colombia, Canada.
When settled, research of all kinds took place on it. The science capabilities of 1900 were limited, so not much either than observations could be made.
The egg in size was huge, about a foot and a half in height, and about a foot wide. It was unnaturally dark, being a completely black egg that seemed to just absorb all light into it. It was declared and classified as a new species, easily from the Cretaceous age nearly 100-150 million years ago. Yet this egg was still a mystery to them.
An autopsy on the egg was needed to learn more, and to see what creature was inside. But what scared them was that the egg was alive somehow, even after possibly millions of years in the solid ice of the arctic. Of course the egg was preserved in the ice, but the fact that the creature inside was still alive seemed impossible. The fact that the egg produced such extreme heat, randomly in the ice, seemed impossible. What caused the egg to do that is still unknown.
Then the egg started moving.
The underground facility in which the egg was being held went dead silent. Thoughts were racing through heads and then spewing out in sudden panic. What was going to happen? What is actually inside the egg? Is it poisonous? Is it carnivorous? What will happen after?
Energy from panicked workers heated the room as a plan was quickly formed. They would move the egg to a completely closed room with no access to any air systems, and only a thick bullet proof tinted viewing window, and many bright panel lights that whitened the grey cement-stone room.
The window on the outside quickly filled with many people, they all shared the same thoughts unspokenly. They wanted to know what creature would come slithering out. They were in awe, but also in silent fear.
Then the egg started cracking.
