"My main man Mingus" Roxy grinned at the cute and young blonde guy who had just walked into her record store.

"Hey Roxy" He grinned, adjusting his backpack on his shoulder. "So how did it go at that estate sale?"

"It went okay" she said softly, trying not to smile. "There were some other collectors there but I did alright, the pile is over there if you want to start going through it"

Holding out her hand, Mingus smiled and handed her his backpack that she put behind the counter. Putting on some Jane's addiction, Roxy began singing and putting albums away. Glimpsing at Mingus who looked carefully through the records, she was almost ready to burst she was so excited about what she had found for him.

"See anything you like?" she asked, as she put some albums away.

"Yeah, there's some good stuff but no Charles" he said sadly

"We'll keep looking" Roxy said absentmindedly "Oh hey, would you mind helping me out for a minute and put some of those away?"

"Sure" Mingus said and began picking up the albums and putting them in the slots they went in.

Watching him for a minute, Roxy knew it was time. Slipping behind the counter and pulling out the album, Roxy put the record on and held her breath and watched. Hearing the beautiful blues music come across the speakers, Roxy smiled as Mingus turned slowly and looked at her.

"I found it" Roxy grinned.

"I can't believe you found it!" Mingus said excitedly "I've been looking for this album forever!"

"I did, and it's yours" Roxy smiled, taking the album off of the record player and back in its cover and sleeve "Happy um birthday, Christmas, Easter or whatever. I was so happy to find it for you!"

"You mean you don't want any money for it?" Mingus asked surprised

"No Mingus, I mean you help me around here a lot and it was fun searching for this. I remember when I used to search for records for me and how happy I was when I found something I really wanted. It's cool, you take that home and enjoy it" Roxy smiled.

"Thanks Roxy, you're pretty awesome" Mingus smiled

"Oh hush and put those albums away" Roxy winked, going back to put hers away as well.

Working quietly for awhile, Roxy looked up as Mingus spoke

"Hey, I gotta motor, my dad is here" he said

"Okay, thanks for your help and your bag is behind the counter and don't forget your album" Roxy smiled.

"Don't worry, I wouldn't forget that ever" Mingus smiled "Thanks again Roxy, I'll see you next week"

"Next week? You going out of town again?" Roxy asked.

"Yeah, Denmark with my mom" Mingus said, slinging his bag on his shoulder.

"Alright, safe travels and I'm going to another estate sale this weekend and I'll hold back anything I think you might like, be good" Roxy said giving him a wave as he waved back walking out the door.

Looking out he window Roxy sighed softly. He was such a sweet kid, if she ever had a son she would like him to be just like Mingus but time was starting to run out on that idea. Smiling at some people that had just walked into her store, she began helping them glad for the distraction so she wouldn't have to think about her aging eggs.

"Hey dad" Mingus said, getting in the car

"Hey bud, how was your day?" Norman asked, pulling away from the curb.
