Chapter 5: Midnight

Two days later

Kora's POV

I waited for Optimus to come pick me up. He decided her would be my guardian. Though Ratchet disagrees. Oh well. I looked up to the sky. It's only been two days since my mother had to be sent to another state, away from me. Though I still had the feeling Megatron would still get her. I.....I just had that feeling. I closed my eyes, but nothing happened. It was odd, but not every time did my ability work. I heard Optimus' engine and looked. Sure enough it was Optimus. I smiled and hopped into the passenger side. He had his holoform turned on. "How was you day?" He asked me. "It was okay, I guess." I told him. He started driving. He gave me a look. I just shrugged. I didn't want to tell about the feeling I had all day.

Normal POV

Kora looked out the window. She didn't say anything. It worried Optimus. 'She knows something.' He thought to himself. He kept driving till he reached the desert. then he pulled to the side. "Optimus?" Kora asked looking at his holoform. "The amulet you gave me two nights ago." Optimus started. Kora nodded remembering. "It is defiantly Cybertronian. And it's code is one I had used at the end of Cybertron's days." Optimus further explained. Kora looked confused. "Then how did it end up around my neck?" Kora asked. "I do not know. Ratchet is looking into further. Though he wanted me to give this to you." Optimus said handing Kora back the amulet. Kora looked at it. She looked hard at the Autobot symbol engraved on it. "So, why did you used this, code?" Kora asked. "I had something very impotant that I wanted to keep safe. I wanted her to be safe." Optimus said looking at his hands in his lap. "Her?" Kora asked. Optimus simply nodded and began to drvie again, though turning off his holoform. Kora looked out the window again. 'Does Optimus have a daughter?' Kora asked in thought.
They reached base and Kora hopped out. Optimus transformed and walked over to the monitors. Kora plopped on the floor next to the couch. The others had not arrived yet. Optimus started typing at the key-pad but stopped. He felt something in his spark chamber. A deep panging feeling. He shook it off and continued what he was working on. The proximity alarm went off. Kora walked over, and sadden and worry look on her face. "It's Agent Fowler." Optimus told her. She nodded and the elevator door opened. "Ah. The two I was looking for." He said. "What happened?" Kora asked not even giving Agent Fowler enough time to explain why he was here. "Megatron." He said. Kora grabbed onto the railing.

Kora's POV

After Agent Fowler told me the name, Megatron, I knew my worst fear came true. I had grabbed the railing next to me, but I couldn't stop but feel like I was falling into darkness. I could hear myself breathing had. I could hear Optimus', Agent Fowler's, and Ratchet's voices, but I couldn't make out what they were saying. All I knew at this second I had to get my mother back. Then, everything went black.

Normal POV

Kora fell to the ground. Optimus quickly activated his holoform and was already at Kora's side. The sharp pain from before had come back, but with a vengeance. It was stronger than before. Optimus ignored it as he turned to Agent Fowler. "Get Nurse Darby, Now!" Optimus told him. Agent Fowler nodded and started dialing Jack's mother. Ratchet had also activated his holoform and was at Optimus' side checking over Kora. "How is she?" Optimus asked. "I'm not sure. Humans are different then us Cybertronians." Ratchet told him. "Alright. She's on her way." Agent Fowler said putting him up. "Let's get her to a berth." Ratchet said. Optimus nodded and picked Kora up, bridal style. He carried her to one ofthe beds set out for kids or Agent Fowler just in case. Ratchet continued his scans. They heard a car engine turn off and Optimus turned. June was running over to them. "Let me in." She said. Optimus and Agent Fowler moved so June could do her work.

Optimus had turned off his holoform and was at the monitors trying to keep Kora off his mind. Agent Fowler was pacing back and forth thinking. "Agent Fowler." Optimus said. Agent Fowler looked up at him. "Yes." He said back. "What full happened?" Optimus asked. Agent Fowler let out a deep sigh. "We were able to move Karine to another state. but somehow Megatron was able to track her down and kidnap her. He left a note." Agent Fowler said pulling a piece of paper out of his pocket. Optimus activated his holoform and took the note. He read it. "We can't allow Kora to leave base. We'll have to make a plan of getting Mrs. Springs." Optimus said handing back the note. Agent Fowler nodded promptly. June and Ratchet's holoform walked over to them. "How is she June?" Agent Fowler asked. "She'll be fine. I guessing you had told her Megatron's name she must have been thinking about it. Stress can do a lot to a person." June told them. "That's not all. But that will have to wait." Ratceht said. Optimus had given him a confused. Then they heard the ground bridge open. Optimus deactivated his holoform and run into it.

He transformed and follow her. She had tripped and landed face first in the ground. Optimus stop and reactivated his holoform and hopped out. He run up to her. "Kora, what are you thinking?" He asked her as he helped her sit up. Kora just shook her head. She didn't say anything. "Kora?" He asked Kora looked at him, her eyes a azule blue. Optimus looked surprised. "Kora....." Kora bolted again, running faster than before. "Scrap." Optimus said. His holoform fizzed out and Optimus transformed and ran after her. She had gotten ahead of him. He didn't know where she went till he heard a scream. "Kora!" Optimus yelled turning towards the sound and run towards it. He saw Megatron holding and unconscious Kora. "Megatron!" Optimus yelled, his battle mask deploring. "Oh, Prime. I wouldn't do that." Megatron said pointing his fusion canon at Kora. Optimus' optics widen in fear. He stood there. "You win, for now." Optimus told him. Megatron smiled. "Wise choice Prime." Megatron told him. A ground bridge opened and Megatron walked backwards into it. Then it closed. Ratchet, Bulkhead, Bumblebee, and Arcee run up to Optimus.

"Optimus?" Rathcet questioned. "I.......I was too late." Optimus told him. All the other bots optics widen. "Now what?" Arcee asked placing her hands on her hips. "I do not know." Optimus said staring at the spot Megatron had been standing at. "I do not know." He said.

~Nemesis~

Kora woke up slowly. She saw her hands were chained up. She looked around till her vision cleared. She saw her mother laying on the floor. "Mom." Kora whispered. She tried to walk over to her but couldn't due to her chains. She heard a door open and looked at the silver mech. "Megatron." She mumbled. "I see you are awake." Megatron said. He looked over at Karine. "Leave her only!" Kora yelled. She tugged at the chains, but couldn't break them. "I have a promise to keep." Megatron told her picking up Karine. "By what I've heard, you NEVER keep them!" Kora yelled tugging at the chains harder. "Oh, but this time I will." Megatron said and left with Karine. "MOTHER!" Kora yelled she tugged at the chains as hard as she could. 'How? How could I ever let her fall into his hands?' Kora thought as she fell to her knees, tears falling down her face. "How?" She asked.

Megatron walked through the ground bridge, and the Autobots were on the other side. Optimus looked at him. "You have her?" He asked. Megatron smiled. He showed them Karine. "Hand her over Megatron." Optimus told him. Megatron only smiled. "Here, chatch." Megatron told him as he threw Karine. Optimus' optics widen. Arcee ran up and jumped, chatching Karine in her hands as a ground bridge closed. "Scrap." Arcee said looking at where Megatron stood. She stood up. Optimus placed and hand on her shoulder. "Next time." He said. She nodded. "Ratchet. Open a ground bridge." Optimus said into his com. A ground bridge opened and they walked through it. 'I will get you back Kora. I promise you.' Optimus thought as he entered the swirling portal.
