A/N k this is a quick chapter that I haven't even planned so yea... Here goes nothing!!!
I got up out of my tent and grabbed a bowl. None of us had thought of bringing cutlery so we ate with our hands even though it burned. I held my bowl out to Mary and she plonked my seemed to be a watery soup with chunks of squirrel and potatoe with some sort of seasoning l into my bowl with the only spoon we had. After this we all went for a swim in the river. After we were all clean Mary made us all take off our wound dressings so she could tend to them. My eye was starting to fade back to skin colour and my lip had started to scab over. My gash running across my face on the other hand was still gaping open and was beginning to go pussy. "Kristeva you know we are going to have to stitch that aye" Mary said to me quietly. I nodded and Mary got up to get her fishing thread and needle. "I'll hold your hand if you'd like" Paeter said to me while Mary was busy preparing to stitch me up. "Thankyou Paeter" I swallowed. I did hold Paeters hand the whole time and tears pricked my eyes as Mary threaded her needle through and through my flesh. When she was finally finished I went and sat in my tent. We decided that there needed to be somebody to take watch so Samuel started while the rest of our gang slept as well as we could.
About two hours later I woke up to find Samuel sitting by the river staring at the shimmering moons reflection. I walked over and sat down beside him. "Will we really make it, really?" He asked still staring out nowhere. He turned to face me and I saw he had tears running down his face, "How long will we last? I mean you saw what happened to Max, then Charlotte ran away and probably is starving to death out there as we speak! What about my brother, your brother! Tell me, will we live!" He sounded so different from the confident Sam I know. I held his hand in mine. "You will just have to beleive," I whispered. He wiped his eyes dry and stood up abruptly."I think its your turn to take guard" he said then quickly walked away towards his tent. I leant back against the tree behind me, put my arms behind my head; and fell into a deep sleep..
