Marys POV

I dont know what Kristy is thinking, dragging us all the way out here. The sky monsters could easily swoop down and take a grasp of one of our young hearts! We should hav let Kerin take care of us, Kerin with those big strong arms that would wrap themselves around me and carry me away from this now adultless country. I wonder if my cousins in Freyburg are alright. No they wont be!! They are both young adults now and will have been killed and burned in a pile of corpses like Mama and Papa. Omilord Papa! No I cant think of them, think about keeping the others healthy. John has already started coughing from all the ashes in the air, I must keep them safe. Listen to yourself Mary! You must be going crazy already! No, I cant go crazy like old Aunt Ethel; I must keep them all safe.

Samuels POV

Kristeva, Kristeva, Kristeva. All I can think about is Kristy!! How caould I let this happen. All the younger children including John all think it is a huge game but they know this is no Mako Polo. They all saw Max's lifeless body so they all need to accept what has happened, not carry on like they are at one of our scrooms camps. Kristevas face when she saw Max. Horrified, tortured, terrified all in one. She slumped down into my arms and looked up at me with those exstatic green eyes. Oh how I wish I had been able to kiss her and tell her I loved her at that moment, but I knew it wasnt the time. And now, That time may never come.

A/N Okay back to Kristy which I guess I could just call Kristeva's POV but I'm just weird like that ;)

We found a little place to camp further up the river, right on the edge of the forrest. "I think we should go into the Forrest, less chance of being caught there." said Samuel. "No because even if those things don't get us, the lurkers defenitely will." argued Mary. "Your decision Kristy, Forrest or river side?" asked Samuel. "uuumm, honestly I think we should go beside the river because the lurkers will take all if us while the sky monsters will only pick us off one at a time." "Cause that's real reassuring." I heard Ronald say sarcastically under his breath. " fine, river it is" Samuel said, them walked ahead in a huff.
