Amanda's POV

The car ride...was a long one. Not because the IHop we were going to was far away, but because there was so much tension in the car it seemed like it was taking hours to get there. I sat inbetween Harry and Niall, feeling extremely uncomfortable. There was something going on there--I could feel it, but they just continued staring out the window and ignoring each other. And once aain, there was no music on, so I was left twiddling my thumbs and thinking about stupid things to keep me preoccupied. For example: There was a different kind of flower blooming outside my window at home. I wasn't really sure if i was a weed or not...I might have to pull it. It was pretty, but I didn't want it killing off my other flowers. I'd ask  mom when I got home.

I glanced out my window...and then looked again, seeing  my favorite bookstore pass by. I knew where we were...finally! I texted mom my location and then looked back out the window, until Niall's head moved into view, blocking me. Sighing, I leaned back, staring at the roof. When I went back to school...I was going to get mobbed. They were going to completely tear me apart for information on One Direction...

I knew the paparazzi had taken at least one photo of Niall dragging me behind  them, just as I knew there'd be newspapers with 'Niall Horan's secret lover?' on the cover. It didn't help that I'd gone to a hotel with them...and slept in Niall's bed. I should've thought of the repercussions of my actions before I'd gone with him--then I wouldn't be in this position.

I flicked my eyes at Harry, catching him gazing at me. He didn't look away when we locked eyes, but leaned closer to me. I moved away slightly, lifting my brow. It wasn't because I didn't like him or anything, but because I actually don't like it when someone gets close to my face. Yeah, you can imagine my first kiss.

His lips curled up, and he moved back.

"You're beautiful." he whispered.

I laughed at him.

"Thanks, but let's be honest--there's some work to be done."

No, I didn't mean surgery or anything, but makeup, a proper shower, some nice clothes...and I'd be a lot closer to "pretty" than I was now.

 Harry grinned, shaking his head.

"Work? You don't need any work."

"What makes you think you do?" Niall questioned, intervening.

I looked over at him, and studied his face. He was just...too cute. One of those baby angels that don't seem real. He wasn't completely blonde--the sides were brunette, and you could tell it was taking over. He looked right back at me, raising a brow.

That wasn't helping me with my temptation to touch his face, or ruffle his hair.

"Oh, look! We're here!" I said hastily, unbuckling my seatbelt and reaching over Niall to open the door. Harry chuckled beside me, but I didn't look at him, gesturing for Niall to leave the car so that I could get out. He smiled and climbed out, helping me.

Suddenly my phone rang and I jumped--no one ever called me, it was usually a text.

I don't need a parachute, baby if I've got you, baby if I've got you I don't need a parachute...
