(I know where you stand, silent in the trees)

She glanced at him from far away with her grey eyes, and raven colored greasy shoulder length hair slipping around her shoulders. His bleach blonde hair covered his face. Her dark furrowed eyebrows creased, watching him stand silently against the tree.

(And that's where I am, silent in the trees)

When she wasn’t looking, he glanced towards her. His shaggy and short bleach blonde hair in his hazel eyes. He would raise an eyebrow as his fingers would fidget, curious of why she just stood there, but continued watching, silent in the trees.

(Why won't you speak, where I happen to be?)

Words gathered up in her mouth, but she swallowed them back down. She didn’t want to say anything that would make him flee. She would have rather taken the time to admire his appearance. Though she longed to speak to him, she held back.

(Silent in the trees, standing cowardly)

He wanted to walk up to her. Say something. His fear caught ahead of him instead. He stood against the tree cowardly, but continued to admire the sight of her, taken back by her beauty.

(I can feel your breath, I can feel my death)

She had always seen him before. Whether it was just outside, or in the same park or building, he was there. She’d spoken to him once, and her heartstrings tightened. She knew what would happen if she spoke to him again, but she didn’t care.

(I want to know you, I want to see)

He’d always find her near him, never far away. He wanted to greet her, possibly be her friend. He began to imagine being with her and spending time together when it occurred to him why he was thinking about that. He decided he wanted to see more of her. He took his thoughts and took one leap of faith.

(I want to say hello)

With one impulsive step, they both faced each other. He smiled. She did too and tucked a small section of hair behind her ear.

“I just wanted to say hello.” he said and smiled, shyly tucking his hands into his jeans.

“Well, hello.” she said, putting out her hand, still smiling.

He stepped closer and shook her hand, still smiling.

“Nice to meet you. I’ve seen you plenty of times around here.”

“Oh, well yeah, I hang around with my friends here.”

“Cool. I’ll be seeing you a lot then.” Her face grew warm as she realized what she just said and added “I m-mean a-around a lot.”

He chuckled. “Yeah, I’ll be seeing you too.”

(Na na, na na na nah na na)

After that, the two began to spend more time together, and got to know each other more. They had very similar interests, desires and goals in life. He made her laugh, she made him smile. Her heartstrings tightened even more, and his thoughts grew. He knew what he had to do. She dreamed of what would happen.

(Na na, na na na nah na na)

He called her name as he was walking up to her.

“Yeah?”

“I want to give you something.”

Her eyebrows raised, and a small smile grew on her face. “Okay.”

He asked for her hand, and she held it out, palm towards the sky. He put something crumpled and dry. Something like a piece of paper.

She took it and opened it to read the first letters;

She couldn’t help but smile and blush.

(Hello, hello)

A few weeks later, she showed up with a note in return. She put it in his hand and smiled.

“What’s this?” he asked, confused.

“Open it.”

(Hello, hello)

He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her cheek. She grinned and hugged him.

“I’m glad I said hello.”
