"And then Will came up to us and started yelling at Lilah," Emilee described the whole encounter to Alexa. She sat at the edge of her seat the entire time, soaking up everything that was being said.
"Oh my god, and she survived?!"
"Uh, yeah, I'm sitting right here." My chin rested in my hand while I messed with the fries on my plate.
"Shhhhh I'm trying to listen."
"She barely survived."
Alexa was always one for gossip and although she didn't really spread any she never gave up the chance to listen to some. "I can't believe I missed it!" She pouted and shot me an annoyed look.
"Hey! What was that for?"
"Why couldn't you have had a run in with Will while I was around. I just don't think it's fair."
"Well life isn't fair." I had been cranky since the morning and was constantly watching my back. I wasn't really sure what Will would do to me for ruining his car. There was no doubt I'd have to pay him back but what else would he do? Make his friend group turn against me? Call the police? Hunt me down until I begged for mercy? WHAT WOULD HE DO?!
Nervously tapping my fingers, I looked around the lunchroom and saw him sitting at his usual table. It might've been just me but he also looked kind of uncomfortable.
While looking at Will I had decided that life really wasn't fair. He was attractive, well off, and had a group of really good friends. PLUS he had a beautiful, talented, smart girlfriend.
I snapped out of my jealous state and realized that I was hardcore staring at him but he was also staring at me for some reason. I quickly turned back to my friends and wished I could disappear. Of course he'd catch me staring at him. That's just how my life worked out.
"So when are we voting for class reps?" Alexa asked Emilee.
"Next Friday during homeroom so don't be late and please don't forget!" Emilee was running for class president and she had been planning to since she lost junior class president to Jordan Marsh. After Jordan moved last summer Emilee decided to give presidency another shot.
"I honestly think you're going to win," I added to the conversation, trying to push Will outta my mind, "I haven't seen any other posters for president and you're obviously the best qualified."
"I don't know," Emilee mindlessly fidgeted her fingers.
Alexa rolled her eyes and leaned back in her chair, "you've gotta be kidding me. If you don't win, I'll personally go up to Reagan's office and throw such a fucking fit that they'll have to make you president."
"I'll be counting on you," Emilee smiled.
We headed to our classes after planning Emilee's campaign over lunch and I stopped at the bathroom on my way to Gov.
As I washed my hands, I heard a masculine voice from behind me.
"Hey."
I spun around and nearly shat my pants at the sight of Will in the girls' bathroom. "Um, hi?" I noticed that the usually open bathroom door was closed and I suddenly feared for my life.
"I just want to make sure you're not going to say anything about this morning."
He... what?
"I don't understand."
He looked at the ceiling in annoyance and shoved his hands in his pockets, "about seeing me studying with Mr. Howard. I'll let you off the hook for fucking up my car if you keep it quiet."
"Uhhhhh," This boy wanted WHAT?! I'd do anything to get off the hook! Well... not anything but you know what I mean, "sure."
"Thanks," and just like that he was gone.
I blinked a few times.
What the hell just happened?
