Character names - rant

Thinking of last names for your characters is one the most grueling tasks alive.
Anyone who has ever had to do this knows what I'm talking about.
First of all you have to actually come up with any last name, which is harder than it sounds.
Then you test it out with the first name and it sounds weird. But you're so happy that you thought of a last name that you start considering changing the first name.
You realize that that's not a good idea and start looking for more last names. If you have several characters, you have to make sure the last names are different.

This is what happened to me with My Current Predicament:
I came up with the name Allysa Farley really fast. The problem was Agent 16's name. I knew I wanted them to have some kind of ship name, so I had that to consider. And she didn't even have a first name yet, so I kept changing that as well. Her name was going to be Grace Stanson, but at the last second I decided I didn't like the last name, so I switched to Emma Winters. I though it sounded pretty good, and some sort of ship name could be made from that.

And just now I was looking at the names and I realized something horrible. I forgot to do the initials check. By that I mean making sure that the initials of the name don't have an additional meaning. So yeah...
Allysa Farley: AF (As F*ck)
Emma Winters: EW (as in eww, disgusting)

Oops.
