chapter 4

As I walk home I come to the conclusion that I'll just leave and start fresh somewhere else. Just as I open my door I felt it a sharp pain in my heart and stomach. It felt like I was dying

"No no no please not this no!!" Jade is crying my legs gave out on me but glad I didn't drop Zack. I crowded to the couch with help from Snow as my vision starts to go in and out of focus, every cell in my body felt as if it was on fire! My breathing became ragged and uneven it felt like I was drowning and I could barely keep my eyes open, I started to see dots and blurred lights cloud my vision.

"no please no anything but that," Jade kept on saying over and over but the more she cried out the more agonizing her cries became as if trapped in a never-ending cycle of misery and despair.

"JADE! JADE PLEASE JADE!" I cried to her trying to reach her in my mind, but everything became so blurry then I passed out. Snows whimpering and whining was the last things I head as I passed out I heard myself whisper a faint "I'm sorry" to who? I don't know but what I do know is Jade knows what's happening and she won't tell me. 

"My child something's are best left behind but it seems that this is not one of them."

who was that? then darkness consumes me but before I passed out I heard Snow whining and barking getting louder and louder then nothing but silence greets me. 

"wake up! please wake up don't leave me please don't!!" that's all I hear as I'm being shaken

who's crying?

get up your pup is calling he needs us!

it's that voice again, who are you

not important. your pup needs you to wake up before it's too late...

and just like that I'm slowly regaining my ability to hear and see blinking slowly I look around and I see Zack crying his eyes out rocking back and forth before I knew it he's in my arms with Snow yelping and licking me I smile softly at her.

"please d-don't leave me" Zack said fisting my shirt inside his tiny hands as he rubs his face in my neck crying.

"I'm so sorry Bebe" its all I can say as I rock us back and forward we do this for what seems like hours until his crying become nothing but hiccups. I take his face from my neck and look at his face. His eyes looked swollen and red from crying and he keeps sniffling as he looks at me, Jade awe at his "cuteness" I kissed his forehead and his eyes and smiled sadly at him. the ace still raw in my chest as look at my pup my acing heart seemed to still with a new emotion equally as raw as the last. 

"wanna get something to eat?" I said picking us both up off the floor and heading towards the kitchen

he hummed his reply I look at the time on the stove and it's 6:45 AM

I sit him down beside me as I wash my hands and walk towards the fridge

"hmm what to make?" I muttered then I look back at Zack and he looks around smiling softly

"he so cute" Jade barked out smiling fondly at her new pup, her new family.

"I know! he's just the cutest pup ever," I gushed at him 

he blushed and looked down me and Jade did our fair share of awes and teasing him

"wanna help me cook?" I asked him smiling finally giving him a break from my teasing.

"really?" he asked excitedly

"yes zacky poo," I said giving him a nickname his eyes lit up and he smiled showing all his teeth. His smile was contagious and I found myself smiling back at his adorable smile. Again my heart felt light as if at peace after years of hardship.

"wash your hands" I call over my shoulder as I go turn on the radio and get food for Snow and then I wash my hands again before we start cooking our first meal as a family.

laughing and smiling me, Zack and Snow dance around the kitchen me and Zack showing off our dance moves while singing off key while using a spoon as our microphones while cooking eggs, sausage, grits and biscuits after setting the table I fill our plates get the orange juice and filling our glasses sitting across from an out of breath Zack who had the biggest smile I've seen on him yet. It was like he was glowing with happiness at this very moment I wished for nothing else. 

"It tastes amazing mommy!" he says  shyly as he looks at me through his eyelashes 

"thank you, my Zacy poo" I felt a flutter in my heart just now again, I'm so happy he accepts me as his mother I will do everything in my power to make him the happiest pup from this point on no matter the risks I would protect my pup. 

"wanna see your new room?" I'm going to be turning the guest room into his new room well go shopping later,

"that's smart" 

after setting everything away in the sink and cleaning the table and washing our hands I lead Zack to his new room.

"ready....set...GO!" with every word I said I opened the door slowly but at "go" the door was wide open  it's just a plain room the normal light grey walls and I have a queen size bed in the middle theirs a walk-in closet with a shoe closet connected to it along with a safe room under the closet floor but he doesn't need to know that yet that's a talk for another time. 

 "...wow I LOVE IT" looking at him his eyes sparkled with happiness even though this was nothing special compared to most homes in the pack I want it to be something special for him.

"let us make your dream room a reality," I said smiling down at him, he looked like he was going to jump off the walls with his excitement. Again with this feeling in my chest, it's so strange. Maybe it's a family thing? Or love? Or maybe it's simply happiness whatever it was hope it never leaves again I feel alive again I'll protect him! 

"really??" he asked 

"anything for my baby boy" was my immediate reply with a smile on my face one that I'm sure only he can create and him alone.
