Often in my life people have said to me. Go for what you want and never look back. I just wonder, what if I don't know what I want. What if I don't want to leave anyone behind when I move on forward?
I lay on my bed, unwilling to get up from this state of drowsiness. Questions swirl in my head as I try to plan out my summer. A summer in New York. I'm going to need to find a way to make money that's for sure.
As my thoughts get muddled up in my head, I find Nicholas from the night before creeping into my head. He truly resembled a Greek God, smooth skin, perfectly tanned, such a cute, carefree smile... Anne. No. NO! Stop. And there's my cue, to get up out of bed and save myself from drowning in my thoughts.
I push myself out and drag my ass into the Kitchen to make a cup of coffee. It's a fair assumption that Cloud will be in bed all day, so I don't bother making her any. With the cup of coffee in my hand and a toasted bagel, I take my breakfast to the living room and proceed to devour it.
After completing my morning ritual, I make my way to the library to catch up on some work. Whoever said that high school prepares you for university was probably drunk.
I arrived at the library earlier than expected. The old building stood tall as always, with intricately detailed architecture dating back to the colonial times. I've been coming here for months, yet each and every time, I'm awestruck.
As I enter the library the long corridors take me into the far most corner of the library where I can get some privacy. The small space holds some of the oldest books in the library with desks clustered in the centre. Hardly anyone comes here.
I throw my books down onto the table and prepare myself for a hard day of work. As I pull out my laptop, I hear Megan. She's the girl from my Marketing class, I'd recognise her voice anywhere. She turns the corner into my room, her petite body lugging around a huge bag. I never thought I'd see this day.
"Hey Megan," I whisper-shout at her from across the room.
She looks up at me and her face lights up. "Hi, Anne!" she squeals in excitement as she approaches the desk next to mine.
I reach forward over my desk and put a hand out to her forehead.
"What are you doing?" she asks, confused.
"Are you sick? Honestly, that's the only explanation as to what you are doing here. With books!" I say. In the 6 months I've known Megan, not once have I seen her pull out a book to study.
"No," she starts confidently. "I have realised something. I can't let my education go. It is important to have fun and not get lost in books all the time, but... having fun all the time isn't the best thing either. It's all about striking a balance, and that's what I'm ready to do."
"I must say, I'm very impressed with this new Megan!" I say. She responds with a curt smile and nod of her head.
I'm truly proud of what she is trying to do. At the same time, I'm suspicious. Why would Megan, out of all people suddenly have a revelation of this sort? There has to be something.
"So what brought this change?" I ask her.
"My psychic," she answers calmly.
I burst out laughing. Only Megan! If you think she's kidding, nope, she's dead serious.
We eventually get back to studying. Marketing, investment, finances, and more. This was much harder than I expected, but, whatever, I'm a trooper! I got lost in the world of business for 5 hours, getting up from it with stiff knees and an even stiffer back. The most shocking thing about this 5 hour Saturday study session, was that Megan kept up with me this entire time.
