"Hey Avaaaaa,"

"Yes, Sage?", I asked,as we walked over to where Cayden and Landan were. School had ended twenty minutes ago, but Sage had left her purse in the lunch room so we had to walk around the campus on the search for it.

Ever since I got his number, Cayden and I hung out a lot, and we've actually been really close friends. But I know that we would never be close enough to date. And trust me, he'd never even begin to think of me that way. No matter how much I liked him, things would never change.

"Are you coming to Nathan's party this weekend? It's going to be amazing.", she said as we sat down next to Landan and Cayden.

I just looked down and sighed. She knew I hate parties. I wasn't much of the social type and I get so awkward at them. I shrugged my shoulders.

"I..I don't know."

She gave me a disapproving look. "It's going to be the best party of the year." She looked over at Cayden, who sat right next to me.

"Cayden." He turned around to face her.

"Yeah?"

"Are you coming to Nathan's party?", she asked.

"Yeah. Why?"

"I'm trying to convince Ava to come."

I just sat there, drinking my water. There was no way I was going to the party. I narrowed my eyes. Nope. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Nothing. Not. At. All. "I'm not going."

Cayden raised one of his eyebrows. "Why not?"

I crossed my arms.

He folded his hands and did the puppy face. "Pleaseeeeee, Ava."

I shook my head, and Sage joined in.

"Pleaseee? I need someone to party with. I can't show up looking like a loner all alone."

I yawned jokingly. "Nope."

They all narrowed their eyes, well, all except Cayden. He had this boyish smile across his face.

"Well..if you won't go..I guess I have no choice.", he said smiling.

I gave him a puzzling look. "No choice but to--", I started, but all of a sudden, Cayden swooped me up over his shoulder.

"Lets go shopping."

I started screaming and kicking, and he just chuckled as Landan and Sage followed.

"God, that sounded gay.", Landan said, laughing.

"Put. Me. Down.", I said through gritted teeth.

Cayden chuckled again, placing me in the front seat of his car. He buckled the seat belt over me as I continually tried to get out. Landan and Sage got in the back as he shut the door behind me, and walked over to the driver's seat. I sighed. This was going to be a long day.

                                                                   _____________________

At school the next day, I dreaded how fast the day went by. I really wasn't looking forward to the party, and the dress they chose for me doesn't help it either. It was about mid-thigh length, adorned in dark blue sequins. It had sleeves that went down a little above my elbows, and in back, the material scooped down, showing my upper back. I have to admit, it was a sexy dress, if I wasn't wearing it. When I had originally stepped out of the dressing room, everyone complimented how gorgeous it fit on me. In the end, they basically dragged me over to the counter to purchase it. And now it was study hall, my last period that I had left of school for the day. There was only five minutes left, and I felt like the day had just started. I packed up my things, and mentally prepared myself for what was to come.

When Sage pulled up into her long driveway, I sighed. I was not looking forward to this one bit. She pulled out our bags from the store, and we headed inside. When we got upstairs, I reached for Sage's curling wand, and plugged it in. I went for loose, bigger curls, while Sage and Jazmyn started on their makeup. Then we switched, and they worked on their hair. Jazmyn curled hers into small curls, while Sage straightened her gorgeous brown hair. I went for a simple look, and more of a natural feel, with a tiny bit of eyeliner as an added bonus. What? If I was going to be forced to go to an outrageous party, I might as well look outrageously sexy. The makeup only took ten minutes, and the hair took thirty, so I hairsprayed it, and went to get changed.

                                                                    ________________

The doorbell rang at 6:30, signaling us that it was time to go. Sage's mom thankfully was still at work, so we didn't need to sneak out. She left a note on the kitchen table, as I went to go open the door.

There in front of me, stood Cayden, looking amazing as always. As soon as I opened the door, he looked at me, taking in my whole appearance. Landan stepped out from behind Cayden, as Sage and Jazmyn came into their view. Landan whistled, and I felt the heat rise to my cheeks.

Cayden smiled. "C'mon, guys, lets go.", he said, as we walked towards his car.

I walked next to him, everyone following behind us.

"Hey, Ava?", he whispered.

I looked over at him. "Yeah?"

He looked over at me too, and our eyes met. "You look beautiful."
