Chapter 4

Sophie’s POV
It was my break. Thank God I really needed one because boy was I busy today, picking up gifts and laundry. I made an espresso for Penny with her name on it “thanks Sophie you’re a darling” she said then took it from me. She finished it quickly then walked away, I made Mr Pataki’s espresso then placed it on a tray. I forgot to knock then opened the door, my eyes widen and I froze wishing I had knocked.
It was Penny and Mr Pataki. Penny was sitting on Mr Pataki’s desk in front of his chair and Mr Pataki was standing in front of her. They were…they were KISSING, he started kissing her neck and she moaned as she ran her hand up and down his back. She started unbuttoning his jacket then the next thing I heard was a glass shattering, they turned to me then Penny jumped down from the desk. I was breathing very hard now because the last time I saw this I was fired but this wasn’t an illegitimate relationship they were practically the same age group but Penny was a year older than me and he was a year older than her. I blinked “why are you standing there being so bitchy?!” Mr Pataki yelled at me “I…I didn’t think…I didn’t think you’d be…you’d be ki- um I” I mumbled shaking while Penny stood there embarrassed “can’t you knock? Ugh you’re so bitchy and dumb!” he yelled again and my eyes welled up with tears “I…I know I’m bitchy and dumb and… and idiotic” I said “I didn’t say idiotic” he snapped. I bent down and started picking up the broken glass then I saw Penny’s Stilettos click past me. The tears I’ve been trying to hold back finally dropped on one of the broken glass then I saw red tears no it was blood “fuck! Don’t touch it now you’re really being idiotic” Mr Pataki said then walked up to me. I dropped the glass back on the floor then got up, he held my wrist then looked at the deep cut across my palm “don’t you know you’re not supposed to touch broken glass?” he asked like he was my dad. I yanked my hand away from him “I’d go get someone to clean it up, I’m really sorry” I said then walked out of the office. I walked to Khloe an older lady whose one of the sanitary keepers “Aunt Khloe can you please help me? I broke a cup in Mr Pataki’s office and I need to attend to this injury” I said “okay dear” she smiled at me then walked off. I went to the bathroom and let water run on my injury and it really stung “hey” I looked over my shoulder and it was Penny “hey” I said lamely “I’m sorry Sophie” she said and no reply what did she want me to say? I forgive you for kissing our boss “I really don’t know why your mad” Penny said “I’m not mad why should I be? You want me to be mad because I caught you kissing our boss, I just can’t believe you could do something so slutty” I said shaking my head “Sophie I am not a slut” she said in a whining manner I rolled my eyes “sure you aren’t” I said ironically as I got the first aid box “what are you even doing here? You’re just his assistant” she said and I shook my head as she walked out.
I walked out of the bathroom after I bandaged my palm. I walked to my office then the IPhone I was giving rang “is Chase there?” the female voice asked “um no this is Sophie his assistant how can I help you?” I asked “could you give the phone to him? Tell him it’s Annie and it’s urgent” the lady said “okay could you hold?” I asked then walked to Chase’s office but this time I knocked “come in” he said then I walked in “it’s um Annie she says it’s urgent” I said “tell her I’m really busy and she should never call me again” he said without looking at me “you’re kidding right?” I asked and he raised his head up with an eyebrow raised “do I look like I joke?” he asked then I walked out “he’s really busy” I said “tell him we need to talk now!” she yelled then I walked back in “she said it’s really important” I said “just end the call” he said “don’t you think that’s too rude?” I asked “what was that? I think I’s the sound of someone who wants to get fired” he said and my lips thinned with anger “that wasn’t even funny, you’re like the incarnated devil your so rude and you think you’re on top of everyone because your rich your just a spoilt boy” I said then his eyes widen at me the moment he heard spoilt boy “that’s it one more word out of you and your fired” he said and I glared at him.
