When Words Fail You

You were standing there, amidst the tumultous crowd,
Smiling charmingly and laughing your lungs out loud.
I gaped at you desperately, but you didn't glance back and my world turned blue,
Maybe that's what truly happens,
When Words Fail You.

My heart skipped a beat as you swept her off the floor,
"You used to do the same to me," I whispered, my chest sore.
A sudden urge compelled me to confess my love to you,
But I couldn't and maybe that's what truly happens When Words Fail You.

I distinctly remember the times when your fingers slid my skin,
Your brilliantly luminous gaze which suddenly turned dim.
Darkness shadowed over me as I failed to even beckon you,
Maybe that's what truly happens When Words Fail You.

Your sweet nothings still haunt my despairing, desperate  ears,
You promised you'd wait for me, even if I took years.
But today when I am ready, to fall in love all over again with you,
You sealed your lips as well as the passage to your heart to let me through.
With a wrecked heart and a dejected soul, I vowed to still love you,
Maybe that's what truly happens When Words Fail You.

I finally impelled my ruthless self to define my love to you,
But when I saw the sour look on your beauteous face, my fairy tale fantasies fell through.
I silently returned you your key chain and scuttled to lose sight of you,
Maybe that's what you truly deserve When Words Fail You.
