Aaron couldn't believe Joy was gone. He was up late doing calculus homework when he got the call. He saw the caller ID on his screen-Joy. He knew something was up, Joy couldn't stay up past 11 even if she tried; she always passed out.
"Aaron?" He recognized Mrs. Nikkos' voice on the phone. He eventually replied to her after two minutes of hearing the woman trying to suppress tears.
"Yes?"
"Um....Joy. She died. I'm sorry."
His whole world turned upside down, heart and chest was heaving, trying to recover the pain of a broken heart shattering into a million pieces. Mrs. Nikkos was telling him the dates for the funeral, open casket, and what not, but his spirit was already gone. This was not a foreseen ending to the romantic novel they were writing.
"Aaron? Are you-I hope you come over, for Joy's sake. It will be good, for all of us."
Aaron nodded, even though she couldn't see his face. When he didn't say anything, she said goodnight to Aaron and before he knew it, he never felt so alone.
