Joy was catching snowflakes after the movie we went to see on our first date. Something about her twirling around the parking lot reaching out for snowflakes brought out a type of innocence Aaron hardly saw around his group of friends. She saw him staring and started to blush.
"What?"
He shrugged and smiled looking towards the distance, "I've just never seen an angel this close up before."
The memory was interrupted when Aaron's mom came into his room.
"C'mon, we'll be late." Aaron dragged his feet the entire way to the car. He opened the door on the driver's side.
"Maybe I should drive," his mom began, but Aaron only shook his head no. Joy never left his mind when he knew he liked her, but this was different. The weeks and months he had developed feelings for Joy was filled with...well joy, but the next weeks and months and even years will be full of pain, sorrow, and much misery. It wasn't fair. It wasn't fair that he had to face this cruel ending to an unfinished romantic novel.
"Aaron!" The car began to squeak and he could feel his body being flipped and turned violently. Everything suddenly began to happen in slow motion; the glass creaking like the first frost you see appearing on your window, the squeals and screeches between his mom, the cars, and himself.

He woke up next to a gleaming light. Where am I? What happened? As his eyes adjusted he was starting to see a glowing girl. She just stared at him and smiled.
"You're up."
"Mmmhmm." And then he came to his senses. "Who are you?"
"I'm Elyssa."
"I'm–"
"I know who you are Aaron."
"You, you do?"
"Yeah...long story short. I'm your angel, it's kind of my job to watch over you, not to sound creepy or anything."
"If this is a dream, I want to wake up."
"Technically speaking, you're in a coma right now." Oh lord, he thought. The car accident. "So like it or not, you're stuck with me on a little...adventure we're going to go on. Follow me." She lent out her hand; Aaron reluctantly grabbed it and the light flashed to an intensity to burn his eyes.
"You can open your eyes now Aaron."
"Are you sure? Are you going to blind me if I do?"
"You're my client, I can't do that. Now pay attention! Look ahead." He was in disbelief at what he saw. Joy was looking as pretty as ever—her long dark hair with wavy accents at the ends; her long eyelashes; the natural look she always had. She didn't need makeup to look good, she just needed a smile. And then he saw himself walk by her. He nearly jumped when he saw how much younger this Aaron looked. He had much longer hair then—he cursed silently at how stupid he was back then.
"This happened freshmen year....we're in my english class. This is when I first met Joy." The angel nodded pleasingly.
"Hey Aaron," his friend Becky said.
"Oh hey, how was your summer?"
"Good, good. Yours?"
"Alright, played a lot of video games."
"Oh cool." After Aaron had nodded, Becky turned around to introduce herself to Joy. Aaron had watched Becky talk to this girl. He became frozen in place as he was captivated by her beauty. No, he told himself. This isn't right. I have a girlfriend. He bit himself at the thought of it, But she's sooo pre- NOO!!! As he was making the decision to turn around, he heard the girl ask, "What's your name?"
