CHAPTER 3

"What do you mean he wants me?" I ask confused.

"He asked me to bring him something that was really precious to me. And I said that the most precious thing in my life were my children. He, he wanted the youngest?"

"I still don't understand father." I said frustrated.

It was becoming difficult for him to speak.

"It's the flower Misa. It's the rose you asked for. An eye for an eye he said. I took a rose with me from his garden while I was leaving. He is not a human. My daughter I'm so sorry." He said clasping his hair.

"So you are saying that you took a rose from his garden, and he became so angry that he wants Misa?" asked Mina.

"What if you don't take her to him?" Asked Minho.

"He cancels the contract by killing me." My father whispered, his face buried in his hands.

Suddenly I couldn't breathe. This was my entire fault. My father risked his life bringing me a rose. All this for a freaking rose.

"Father". I said in a serious tone. "I'll go."

He didn't answer after that. Maybe he felt relieved. Maybe he was shocked. The only thing I was told, was that I was leaving in two days.

I packed my things and put on the "claws" Hoshi brought me from his trip.

Hoshi. Would I be able to see him again?

My mind drifted to him. Hoshi was tall with golden hair like brown sugar. He was really kind both with people and animals, and that's what I liked about him. I always remember him smiling at me. Whenever I cried, he was always there for me. He was a free spirit and liked travelling. That's why he decided to work with my father and travel all over the world. He always bought something for me every time he came back.

I think we the first time we met was when I was four years old.

I had a fight with Minho and ran off to the forest. I was crying under a cherry tree when I heard his voice.

"Are you okay?" instinctively I grabbed his arm and twisted it like my dad has taught me. Incredible self-defense for a four year old. His painful expression told me that I had to let go of him and so I did.

"Wow you are pretty strong." He said and rubbed his arm. "I'm not a bad person. My name is Hoshi." He said and went for a handshake.

"My name is Misa." I remember saying shyly and shook his hand.

I still remember him smiling widely at me with his crooked teeth, and the sun finding his way through the trees at his face.

I climbed my horse and tried to hold back tears. I never said goodbye, and I wasn't sure if I was going to see him again.

I stared at my house for a long time. I was starting to feel regretful. I didn't want to leave anymore. But it was too late to object now.

My siblings stood at the door. Neither of us said a thing. I kicked the horse and my father soon followed.

"You don't know how sad I feel my daughter." He said.

"Dad." I said sternly. "You said that he isn't human. What did you mean?" I asked.

My father took a deep breath. "He is a monster Misa. He turned into a monster right before my eyes."

I didn't ask anything else.

We kept riding our horses through the big forest, and I have to admit I was a little scared. The trees were so tall that the sunlight couldn't reach the ground. It was dark and cold. I put on my cape and covered my face. It was still winter after all.

After some time we were out of the forest. In front of us was a huge two story villa by a big lake. All around the building was a huge fence and behind that fence a garden full of bloody red roses.

Despite all these bright colors, the feeling was sad and sorrowful.

"Where's the sign that says 'Keep out?' " I joked to lighten the mood but it wasn't working.

Suddenly we heard a voice.

"Send the girl inside."

My father shivered. As soon as we got off our horses, he hugged me tight.

"I'm really sorry." He said once again.

"It's not your fault okay?" I said while hugging him back. "This guy is probably insane for saying that he'll kill you because of a flower." I said and let go.

"I'll be okay." I said more to myself and grabbed my things.

I looked once again my father and went inside.
