The next morning, Lizabeth awoke to Claire opening the long pink curtains hanging from her windows. Her bedroom was what you would expect a little girls room to look like. Her walls were white with pink floral patterns on them, her hard wood floor was covered by large matching pink and white rugs that looked as soft as s kitten's fur. Toys were scattered about while a toy chest sat at the foot of Lizzy's full size bed. Her bed sheets were a pastel pink that matched her pink and white pillow and comforter.
Lizabeth didn't really care much for the immense amount of pink in her room, it was to bright and frilly for her, but her father insisted that a little girl's room should look as such.
"Little Lizzy, its time to wake up!" Claire said as she walked over to the white wardrobe in the little girls room. She then pulled out a small powder blue dress with a white ribbon for a belt and puffy short sleeves. "Your father told me you are to wear this today while you go out with him on his trip." she said.
Lizabeth groaned. "But I don't want to go with him! I want to stay home! Why do I have to go?"
"Because Mr. Peters doesn't want you to go up that tower again and he doesn't trust you on staying away from it while he is out, hurry up and get out of that bed! I would get you out myself if I could see where you were." Claire said as she quickly walked next to the bed while holding Lizabeth's attire for the day. "You are so tiny, I can never find you in that bed of your's!" It was true, though, because of the little girl's size, it was quite hard to find her underneath her many blankets in her bed.
Lizzy giggled softly. "I'm not getting out! If you can't find me then I can't go with Papa on his trip!" she said ass she hid herself away more in her blankets. "I don't want to go with him, and you can't make me!"
The young maid smiled and sighed softly. She knew Lizabeth didn't like having to go to town where there were a bunch of strangers. "You know better than to disobey your father, now get up and so we can get you cleaned up for the day, or I will be forced to remove these covers myself and drag you out of bed."
Lizabeth pouted as she revealed herself to the young maid. "Please don't make me go! The people in town always call me the 'strange child' because I tell them I can see ghosts, and the other kids always make fun of me and call me weird. Plus all the old guys Papa talks with are big and ugly and mean!" she begged.
Claire shook her head and sighed once more. She knew how it felt to be surrounded by strangers and feeling like the odd one out. When she was a child, she was quite shy and every time someone tried to talk to her, she would squeak and hide wherever she could. This caused her to be made fun of a lot. With a smile, Clair sat down on the side of Lizabeth's bed. "Okay, fine, I can tell your father that you got a cold from being up in that old musty tower and that you should stay home."
Lizabeth smiled and crawled over to Claire. She wrapped her tiny arms around the maid and hugged her as tightly as she could. "Thank you, Ms. Claire! You're the best!" she smiled happily. 'Now I can go and see George again!' the little one thought.
Claire smiled and hugged Lizabeth as well. "Okay, now you sit here in bed while I tell your father and then get you some breakfast!" she said before letting the Peters girls go and getting off the bed. "But don't go up in that tower again, okay?"
"Okay!" Lizzy lied with a big smile on her face. And with that, Claire left the room to do as she said she would.
