The children were still mad at Millard, but for excited when they heard about Reese. "I hope she's pretty." Said Olive. "Will she play dolls with me?" Asked Claire. "Is she a foreigner like me?" Fiona whispered. Everyone had a questions simply spilling out of their minds but not one had to nerve to go up to Miss P and ask. Not even Millard would. So Reese was simply a topic they talked about in privet.
Soon, the day came. Miss P had Fiona and Emma set out the table, Enoch and Horace go into the village to buy some food, Olive and Claire to decorate the room, Bronwyn to set up her bedroom, and finally Millard brought out the big diary book he had made. Despite where his previous actions had lead him, he had recently finished updating it as far as he could since the entries were slowing down. Olive had even forgotten to write one about the previous day!
Then the doorbell went. DING DONG! Olive completely jumped out of her skin and thrust a jug of water all over Claire. "Olive!" Claire moaned. Bronwyn came in and helped the girls clean themselves up.
Millard rushed to the door to find the most beautiful thing standing there. She owned golden locks and eyes made of pure emeralds. Her skin was a nice Australian brownish colour and her lips were plump and pink. Her ears contained two piercings on either side: the one at the bottom was a cute amethyst kite shape and the other one at the top of her ear was simply a tiny ruby ball. Her slim figure was breathtaking and she wore a gorgeous turquoise high top with a lime green turtle embroidered in it. Her bellybutton was also pierced with a silver ball and she wore a short stretchy denim skirt. She wore gold and rose pink sandals - it was obvious she came from the twenty-first century.
Millard's heart leapt. She was gorgeous. He started stammering some random words and then he ran away blushing even more. Reese laughed, noticing his interest in her.
"Hi." She said. "I'm Reese." Everyone said "hi" and Bronwyn lead her to her room, carrying all five of Reese's large bags. "You've got a lovely house here." Said Reese, smiling sweetly. Bronwyn giggled. "Your so nice. And pretty. What year are you from?" "I was born in 2000 but where I just came from it was 2017 so I am seventeen." "Cool, I'm sixteen." Reese nodded. "BTW, when is Miss P expecting us downstairs for teatime?" "What's BTW?" Asked Bronwyn. "Basically the short way of saying by the way, like FYI is short for for your information." Bronwyn nodded and simply said:"Now."
It was a big hassle to get everyone calm thanks to the new girls arrival. Enoch kept looking nervously at Millard's book, worrying people would find our about his feelings for Horace. Horace felt the same way. He had large butterflies launching themselves around in his stomach and he kept in leaving to go to the loo.
The first thing the did whilst eating was say names and peculiarity's. Reese seemed particularly interested in Millard. Finally, just as Hugh got up from his mini table to go fetch desert, it was time for the diary exposure. All the peculiars eyes darted nervously to the doro, each one screaming silently:"LET ME OUT!"
"So, children. Last week, I discovered that our diaries are bad luck. Now, everybody can so Reese can look at it in silence."
As everyone left, Reese plotted something dark in her mind. It was obvious that Millard was into her, so she just needed to use this to her advantage. And this big book of secrets was so gonna help! She flicked through the pages until she saw something that caught her very keen eye:
Loop Date: September 3rd 1940
Real Date: July 2nd 2016
By Bronwyn Bruntley
So, here goes. I really like Millard and I'm scared he doesn't like me back. Its just to terrifying to think that if I ask him out he will reject me and it will ruin our friendship! But if I don't act fast, I think the new girl he keeps talking about will steal him. I so can't let that happen! Also, I fixed up Claire and Olive a picnic in the living room and found Enoch's diary. I know I shouldn't have it, let alone copy it down! So, here is what it said:
Last night, Horace broke out into screaming. Everyone came to his door and Miss P was beside his bed. I got scared and Bronwyn hugged me as Miss P sorted out Horace. Then she had to deal with Claire and Olive and Fiona held my hand and Hugh put his hand on my shoulder. In the day I back out of everything, but at night my guard is down. I wish I had a do-over so the everything could be the way it was at night.
When I read Enoch's entry I felt so privileged that he had written about me, and now I'm going to make his life better!Reese smiled. She had found a way. She was going to rewrite this passage and post it upon the walls. Then she flicked through once again, and this time found one of Horace's extracts.
Enoch is so cute when he gets embarrassed. I wish I could kiss every inch of his perfect face but if I do, I could loose his friendship forever, even if its more one-sided.
Reese copied it down and wrote something extra:
Is this really the best you can do?
- Millard. She cackled evilly and found some more things to ruin the peculiars lives with.
