Maya ducked out of the line, leaving with out a trace. She watched from the shadows as the line went by. Her dark eyes darted from trainee to trainee, until they landed on a firmiliar face. Peter.
Maya threw her arm out, and pulled Peter towards her. Peter worried at first, closed his mouth as soon as Maya gave him the command to be quiet, recognizing her voice.
"Maya?" he hissed.
"Peter." Maya replied, looking up. She saw the room where they had taken Charlie. She grabbed Peter's wrist, and pulled him back into the line, but veered off into the room. She spotted another door closing. She told Peter to stay in the empty steel room, while she got a
.. friend. She pulled a dagger from her boot, and crept into the room, filled with Charlie's scream.
The sight Maya saw was horrific. Charlie was being branded with the Malitia symbol. Maya raised her dagger, and drove it into the brander's neck. He cried out, and dropped to the floor, shocking the soldiers holding Charlie down. They loosened their grip, just enough for both Maya and Charlie to work together, to bring all of them to the ground. They ran out of the room, and Maya grabbed Peter's wrist once again.
"Come on Peter, we're leaving." Maya said, as they left the room, then the boat. They plunged into the cold water, and began to swim. Just as the boat was blown in a bright red and orange flame. But they were safe. They quickly reached the shore, where the others were waiting. As soon as Peter and Maya were pulled out of the water, they embraced, then the rest of the kids tackled Peter. They left with the Grown-Ups back to their base. The children fell asleep listing to the tale of how Maya and Charlie saved Peter.
"So where are you going?" Maya asked.
"To get my brother back, and kill Monroe." Charlie replied bluntly.
"To kill Monroe?" Maya asked, her mind flooding with memories.
"Yes."
"I know this is weird. But may I come with you?" Maya asked.
Peter turned to her, shocked. "Maya, you can't leave. They won't let you. I won't let you."
Charlie looked at the two. "Maya, you are welcome to come, but I think the children need you here more."
"May we have a minute?" Maya asked. When Charlie nodded, Maya grabbed Peter's hand, and lead him away from the Grown-Ups.
"Peter I have to go."
"You can't. Maya I can't let you."
"Peter I.. If I go, I can see my father."
"Your father?"
"Peter... My father is Monroe."
