Show Me Love

                The next day, Nathan drove me to school in a car he had rented. I asked him before I got out “I never asked you this, when are you leaving Lawrence?” He thought for a second then said “I’ll stay here for as long as you want me to.” I smiled then kissed him. I said “Nathan Sykes, I truly love you.” Then I hopped out of the car. Before I could start climbing the steps leading to my school, I heard a window roll down and Nathan yelling “Melanie!” I turned around and walked back to the car. I leaned into the passenger window and was shocked when Nathan’s lips planted hard against mine. He pulled away then said “I had to give you a real kiss before you left. I love you. Oh, and do you want me to pick you up?” I nodded then said “Sure. I’ll see you at 1:30?” His face looked confused and he said “Why 1:30? You get”  out of school at 3:00.” I nodded and said “Yeah, but today’s Wednesday. We get out at 1:30 on Wednesdays.” He nodded then said “Okay, then I’ll see you at 3:00, love you.” I started walking and looked back and said “Love you too.” Then the car drove off and I walked into the school.

                Jordan greeted me. It seemed like I hang out with him more than I do my other friends now. I feel bad and tell him “Hey Jordan, I’m gonna hang out with some other friends today. You can sit with us, I just can’t sit with you.” He frowned then said “Fine, but you’ll sit with me again tomorrow, right?” I smiled and said “Sure.” He smiled then I said bye and headed towards one of my best friends, Taylor’s, locker. She saw me and hugged me and said “God, I haven’t talked to you in forever!” I laughed then said “It’s been three days Taylor, calm down.” I laughed and saw Taylor staring at me. I asked her “What’s wrong?” She smiled and said “I’m just trying to figure out why you’ve been hanging out with Jordan more than us.” I frowned at her and said “What are you talking about?” She said “You’ve just been hanging out with Jordan allot. It’s almost like you two are dating. And what’s up with your eye?” I told her “Me and Jordan are just friends. And Hanna punched me cuz I watched a movie with Jordan. Nathan came and picked me up. Didn’t you hear Jordan telling the teacher I was sick? Cuz I was. I had been crying so much and Hanna hitting my eye finally made me get knocked out, well almost.” Taylor hugged me then said “Sorry, we really need to talk more. Can you stay after today? I know your parents aren’t home so you have to walk anyway.” I frowned and bit my lip. I said “I sorta can’t. Nathan’s picking me up. He’s in Lawrence so we can spend some quality time together. You could come to my house though. He could drop us off then come back later.” Taylor smiled and said “I’ll come to your house, but you have to let me meet Nathan.” I laughed and said “Sure! He’ll love you.” She smiled then we walked to class together.

                After school Jordan said bye to me like usual and me and Taylor went to the front of the school. We found Nathan immediately. I hopped into the passenger seat and Taylor hopped into the back. Nathan whispered in my ear “Who is that and why’s she in the car?” I laughed and said out loud “That’s one of my best friends, Taylor.” He smiled at her and said “Hey Taylor. I’m Nathan if you didn’t already know.” He had his gorgeous smile on. He turned back to me and quickly pecked my lips then asked “Are we all going to your house?” I nodded and he started driving.  When we got to my house, I saw Nathan jump out of the car and run towards my side. He opened the door while I grabbed my bag. He leaned down and offered me his hand. I gladly took it and let him help me out. Taylor stared at Nathan holding me next to him and smiled.  She could obviously tell he really liked me. I smiled and invited her over. We walked up the stairs together.

                I went to the house first and saw Nathan had left it unlocked. It made sense though, he didn’t have a key. Taylor went inside before us and skipped up the stairs. I started walking up and slipped backwards. I expected to hit my head on the door but I was caught. I looked up and saw Nathan standing above me. He smiled and said “You really need to stop falling Melanie.” I laughed while he helped me up and held my arm walking up the stairs. I found Taylor plopped on the couch. She saw me and said “Well it took you long enough! Can we talk now?” I laughed and said “Yeah.”  I sat in the middle of the couch while Nathan sat on my right and Taylor sat on my left. I ended up laying on Nathan so I could face Taylor. I don’t think he cared though because he wrapped his arms around me. I faced Taylor and she immediately blurted out “What happened between you and Jordan?” Nathan gripped me tighter when she said that. I knew Nathan was jealous even though he insisted he wasn’t. I answered calmly and said “I’ll start from the beginning. I invited Jordan over cuz I wanted to talk to a guy about being called a whore but I didn’t want to tell Nathan cuz if I wasn’t dating him it wouldn’t have happened. But during the movie I got cold and Jordan put his arm around me. Nathan  was surprising me and walked in and saw us like that. Jordan left and I explained to Nathan and he believed me. He gave me this necklace.” I pulled out the little heart charm and showed it to her. I continued on and said “He gave me the necklace then we watched a movie. I ended up falling asleep on his chest then he walked me to school the next day. I found a note in my locker from Jordan and it said he liked me. I asked him and he admitted it was true and he didn’t tell me to my face cuz he couldn’t handle the rejection. I guess Hanna heard cuz after gym she punched me in the eye and called me a whore. Jordan came and called Nathan and Nathan came and picked me up. He nursed me back to health and I guess Jordan practically carried me to the front of the school with nobody noticing. And I was dehydrated cuz of crying so much and not drinking enough and I blacked out. That’s why he carried me. So we’re just friends now. Explanation session over.” Taylor just said “Wow.” Then Nathan hugged me tighter and we sat there in silence for a minute.

                Finally, after about 5 minutes, Nathan broke the silence. He talked out loud, but directed it to me. He said “They guys want to chat with you. Is now a good time? Taylor can meet them too.” I turned to Taylor and said “You wanna meet The Wanted?” She smiled then said “It would be an honor!” I laughed then started walking towards my room. I yelled back “Let me grab my computer.” I quickly rushed to my room and grabbed my computer. I quickly ran back to the living room. I saw Taylor hugging Nathan and almost dropped my computer. I sat my laptop down on the coffee table and ran to my back door. I started down the stairs and ended up tripping on the second one. I tumbled down the whole flight of stairs and lay at the bottom. I was in excruciating pain but I just laid there and cried. Taylor was supposed to be my best friend. She was hugging my boyfriend. Then I blacked out.

                I could feel my whole body being shaken. I heard a familiar voice but I couldn’t tell who it was. The shaking sped up and my eyes fluttered open. Nathan was leaning over me, his face was contorted with concern. I turned my head and saw Taylor beside him. That’s when I remembered what had happened. I had seen Taylor hugging Nathan and I fell down the stairs. It hit me hard in the gut. I couldn’t believe my best friend had been hugging my boyfriend. The boyfriend I had worked so hard for to get. She betrayed me. Nathan betrayed me. I started to cry and cry harder. I balled my hands into fists and pushed hard. I stopped when I could tell they were bleeding. Of course, neither Nathan nor Taylor noticed. I heard Nathan’s voice, but I refused to open my eyes and look at him. He said “We need to get her inside.” I then heard Taylors voice say “Yeah.”Then I could feel them both trying to help me stand up but I almost fell immediately. I kept my eyes closed and felt my body being picked up. I guessed it was Nathan carrying me up the stairs. I felt him put me down on what I guessed was my bed. That was when I finally opened my eyes.

                I saw Nathan sitting down the same way he was when he picked me up when Hanna hit me. Except for this time, Taylor was standing next to him comforting him. I just laid there and watched them. Nathan finally looked up and caught me though. I didn’t close my eyes quick enough. I opened them again and heard him say “Melanie! Oh my god you scared the crap out of me. Why were you going outside anyways?”  I could feel my jaw trying to drop open. Nathan noticed and said, concern back into his voice “What’s wrong Melanie?” I finally spoke up. My voice was like a razor saying “I saw you hugging Taylor. Don’t even try to lie Nath.” Both Nathan and Taylor’s faces were shocked. Taylor opened her mouth and said “It’s not what you think Melanie. He asked me something about you and I answered and he was thanking me. I swear Melanie I’m your best friend!” I just sighed. Nathan spoke up and said “Melanie, Taylor’s not lying. I asked her if you truly loved me.” I kept a straight face and said “Nathan, you shouldn’t have to ask her that. You should already know.” He frowned and said “I had to be sure Melanie. I couldn’t handle loving you whole heartedly while you had feelings for someone else. For Jordan,” I smiled and said “Nath, I love you completely.” He smiled and came over and kissed me.

                Once we made up, Nathan made sure I hadn’t majorly hurt myself, and I didn’t. I just sprained my wrist and ankle. Luckily it was my left wrist.  After he bandaged all my cuts, we called the band on my laptop. They answered on the first ring and I said “Hey you guys.” They all said hi and Jay blurted out “What happened to your face?” I blushed at the fact that they noticed my face was scratched up. Nathan said “She fell down a flight of stairs and was punched in the eye.” Max said “What did you do this time Melanie?” I frowned and said “I watched a movie with another girls boyfriend. He’s my friend too, so he’s not a complete stranger or anything. But anyway, the next day at school he told me he liked me. I guess his girlfriend, Hanna heard cuz after gym class she punched me in the eye and said I was a whore. That’s the story.” Nathan squeezed my hand and I heard a knock on my bedroom door. I turned around and saw Taylor walking into my room. She quickly noticed the computer screen and squeezed in between me and Nathan. The band looked confused and Jay said “Umm, who is that?” I laughed and said “This is one of my best friends, Taylor. I’ve told you about her before.” They all smiled and said there hellos. Taylor talked to them for about an hour then we hung up and Nathan drove her home.

COMMENTARY

Not as much action as I was hoping for, but whatever. I had to mention my friend Taylor in here though because, well because she's just that amazing. Again, do you support Nathanie or Melordan? Comment and tell me your opinions. I live for critics!
