My Sweet Sapphire

Chapter 2. What if she doesn't wake up?!

 - Karen's Point Of View - 

~ 3 Months Later ~ 

"Dr. Sherrie, what if Sapphire doesn't wake up one day?" I ask quietly.

It had been only three months ago that my fiance's sister was put into a coma due to a drunk driver running into us, if your wondering if I'm okay, I am, I only broke my leg and a chunk of my upper arm was ripped off and then some scratches. The drunk driver was fine I didn't see anything broken on him, he was charged and sentenced to jail for about two years, I personally wish it was longer because he could've killed Sapphire, but he probably doesn't care anyways. Sapphire and I were arguing when the accident happened and ever since she has been in a horrific coma, the crazy thing is, I don't think she noticed the guy coming straight for us even when I tried screaming for her.

"Karen?" I turned around to find Sapphire's best friend Luke standing in the doorway. What is he doing here? Who told him that Sapphire was in a coma, let alone a hospital room? I thought questionably.

"Oh hey Luke...." I walk towards the side of the hospital bed, I never really trusted him but he's Sapphire's only friend so I can't really tell him to not come around her

"Hi Karen, how is Sapphire doing?" He looks cute when he is nervous, too bad, he is too young for me. Why am I like this?

My thoughts were being their seductive selves and it was getting annoying. it's always annoying.

"She is doing fine, who told you she was here in the first place anyway?" I asked curiously.

"Oh, Jackson told me. He wanted me to know so I would stop calling him and constantly wonder where she is". 

He rubbed the back of his neck. 

"Cool." I said awkwardly. Luke silently walked over to the bed and sat down next to Sapphire and stared at her with an expression on his face that I sure as hell couldn't recognize. What is he thinking...

"I'm gonna go, do you need a ride home?" Maybe if I be polite he won't try and do anything to her, like I said, I don't trust him.

I'm not sure why but I just don't. Maybe because I've heard that he is a troublemaker at the school, I just don't want him to do anything to Sapphire. We may argue a lot but I care about her.

"No, I'm fine, thank you though. I think I'm going to stay here for a bit with Sapphire." At the mention of her name, he smiled. Maybe it's just me that hates him, he sure does like her and it's obvious. 

"Suit yourself, if I find out you did anything to he-" interrupted, yet again.

"I won't, I wouldn't do anything to her. I'm not the kind of guy you think I am, and no, I'm not a troublemaker."

My eyes widen. How did he know I was thinking about that!? This boy sure is something else, I'll tell you that.
