"Damn these guys are hard to kill," Maul thought as he was fighting. Nothing had been so hard to kill. He had never fought something so used to Niman. Al of the sudden he felt a cold presence. "Why is Sidious here," Maul thought, "I need to focus and now Sidious is here?" As he was thinking his Ataru power was enhanced massively. So he had the most genius idea, to combine Ataru with Juyo. He had never been so powerful.
He spun his lightsaber in a figure-eight motion. If he were the droids he would have at least hesitated a little, but these guys were running right into his saber. He stopped caring that Sidious was in there and he felt, lighter. That was the only thing he remembered before everything became a blur of droid parts and red.
When he was done he willed his lightsaber back in. The sound had never been so satisfying. He heard three long, slow claps and he remembered that Lord Sidious was in there with him. "Well done Maul," he said, "I think you are finally ready for your first mission."
"What," Maul thought. He never would have said that to his master , so on the outside he just nodded. After Sidious left Maul headed upstairs to his chambers.
He started packing and after a while he heard something in the closet. Any normal person would've gone over and checked it out themselves but Maul was the farthest thing from normal. He reached out with the force and sensed the thing was organic and it's intention. He grabbed his lightsaber and ran over. When he was close enough the door opened on it's own to reveal a terrified mercenary. Maul opened his lightsaber and stabbed the intruder through the chest. But he made sure that he stayed awake long enough to here Maul say, "Assassin scum." And then Maul pulled back and the assassin's body crumpled to the floor. Most would wonder were the assassin came from but Maul already knew. Sidious had been sending assassins at him for months.
Maul finished packing and went to the landing bay where he would meet Sidious and get his assignment. He was heading down when he remembered his lightsaber was still in his room, his new lightsaber that is.
Once he got upstairs he gripped his finished double bladed lightsaber. It felt good to have it with him. Once he was finally down he didn't see Sidious and immediately knew something was up. He didn't have to wait long to figure out what exactly what was up.
