An unfamiliar ache, an unfamiliar pain, an unfamiliar weight. As consciousness gradually began to show itself in Nathaniel, he began to assess the fact that what he was feeling was anything but normal. The throbbing in his head kept him from prying his eyes open right away and his face scrunches up as more pain floods his body the more he wakes up. The weight that was pushing down on his lungs brought back the feeling of being engulfed in water, which made him open his eyes with more motivation this time. Everything surrounding him was white, a painful sort of white, and his senses begin to come back to him as he picks up on a monotonous beeping beside him.

What he could only assume was shock and panic fills his being and Nathaniel clenches his jaw as he forces himself to a sitting position, much to his body's protest. As a shaky breath escapes him, he looks down at his hands to take note of the bandaging wrapped around the majority of his limbs, as well as his torso underneath the sheer piece of fabric that covered him no more than the bandaging already did. With a deep inhale, Nathaniel swings his legs off the side of the bed and gets to his feet, the sudden weight almost causing him to topple over.

The room was small and held nothing of interest to Nathaniel aside from the slightly large window that he was now shuffling towards. A sharp tug on his forearm causes him to pause and his mind finally takes in the IV attached to him, which he promptly yanks out of his arm and tosses aside. The immediate pain afterwards made him slightly regret his hasty actions, but he continues to head for the window no less. His body trembles and both palms hit the window sill in attempt to catch himself, awkwardly shoving the curtain out of the way to find the handle on the window to slide it open.

Once the window is slid open, the cold night air floods the room and Nathaniel's body tenses up at the drop in temperature, which does nothing for the pain he was already quite aware of by this point. At the sight before him, his brown eyes widen in disbelief as his fears were verified by the cityscape filling his gaze. The sounds that were rising up from the streets below only added to his growing terror and he grips the window sill until his knuckles turn white.

Nathaniel's mind suddenly kicks itself free of shock and his gaze hardens as he shifts his hands to hold onto either side of the open window, ready to hoist himself upward if not for the sudden feeling of eyes on his back. The silence in the room made him more curious than he would have liked to admit, but he slowly looks over his shoulder to see who was standing there. Before Nathaniel could fully process the female in the doorway, a startled scream shakes itself out of her small body and she bolts back down the hallway out of his sight. Quickly disregarding the fact that he'd been spotted, Nathaniel faces forward once again and pulls his beaten body up into the open window, looking down at the rather far fall he would face if he pushed himself too far.

Rushed footsteps echo down the hallway before reaching his ears and Nathaniel looks over his shoulder once again to see a different female in the doorway, one that looked significantly less frightened than the first. This one's eyes reflected a strange determination, Nathaniel noted to himself. Despite the urge to toss himself out the window, he waits to see what this female will attempt to do as she takes a few cautious steps into the room. The light catches her features as she reaches the foot of the bed and the almost iridescent shade of green that adorn her eyes fully catches Nathaniel's attention.

"Sir, I need you to step down out of the window and come back to the bed," are the words she chooses to use. Nathaniel's eyes narrow just slightly before he shifts his grip and turns himself around in the window, seeing the alarm flash across her eyes at the possibility of him actually falling out the window. "... Please come back to the bed. You're still very injured and you may make your injuries worse." Her approach to the situation seemed intriguing to Nathaniel and he takes another glance over his shoulder to take in the outside world, still contemplating dropping backwards out of the window, before easing himself back into the room. Waiting for his injuries to heal instead of running headfirst back home was probably more wise, especially if there was more trouble waiting for him on the way there.
