A Walk In Love

The Drag Race

Today's the day.

Dustin was getting ready with some of his Soc friends.

While Johnny was getting ready with us.

I walked over to Dustin and said, "So, your really going to do this?"

He said, "I didn't want to, but you left me no choice."

I said, "How didn't I see this coming?"

He smirked and replied, "Just wait, you ain't going to see something else coming either."

I looked at him in confusion:

He walked back to his guys as I walked back to mine.

We were all in this huge building when Bob came over to me.

Oh-no there's that feeling again.

Can't it just go away!

He said, "Hey."

I smiled and replied, "Hi."

He suddenly said, "I just overheard Dustin and his friends. They're planning to do something bad to Johnny, but I don't know what it is."

I looked at Johnny and then looked back at Bob.

I said, "Oh really? Ok, I'll talk to him."

He nodded his head and said, "Ok, good."

He ran off before being seen talking to me (a greaser).

I walked over to Johnny and said, "Cutie Pie, you can't do this."

He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion and asked, "What?"

I said, "I don't want you anywhere near that track we need to go home now!"

He said, "B-but if I d-don't race, he will w-win."

I said, "I want him to win rather you getting hurt now let's go."

The announcer finally started the race.

"Attention everyone! We need Dustin Maze and Johnny Cade down on the track the race will begin shortly!"

I watched as Johnny turned around walking towards the track.

I yelled, "Johnny!"

He turned around knowing I was serious. I don't want him hurt.

I said, "If you do this, I will never speak to you again."

He looked at everyone and whispered, "I'm sorry."

He then left to go be in the race.

Liza touched my shoulder probably feeling bad, as I ran.

I ran away from the crowd, but I could still see the race.

The Drag Race was a three lap race.

I watched as the first lap was just bad mouthing Johnny.

The second lap he started to bump into his car.

But the third lap he was running him on the side Hard where sparks flew.

Then, something nobody saw coming happened.

Bob jumped out of the crowd in front of the moving vehicles pushing Dustin off of Johnny.

With all of his might, he was able to move the car.

I got up from my spot and watched in shock at his act:

I was so surprised.

After Johnny drove across the finish line, all the Greasers were happy for him.

Liza met back up with me at my spot as she sat down beside me.

She said, "Hey, Peaches."

I said, "Sup."

It grew quiet.

She finally started elbowing me smiling like an idiot and saying, "I hear you and Johnny did it."

I asked, "Johnny told you?!" She nodded while smiling.

She said, "And you never told me that!"

I shrugged and said, "I'm sorry."

It grew quiet again.

I finally said, "I couldn't watch him."

She gave me a questioning look as I replied, "I couldn't watch Bob."

She looked back at the ground and said, "You couldn't watch him because you were afraid something would happen to him..."

She took a little pause as I took a deep breath.

She continued, "Because you like him...and you never told me that either." :

I looked away ashamed.

Did I like him?

I looked her in the eyes and said, "How is this possible?"

She grabbed my hand and said, "I just want you to be happy."

Nothing went right from that day and my life totally changed...
