i look at myself in my bathroom mirror, looking at all the dark spots and acne on my face. i run my hands over my stretch marks on my waist and on my inner thighs. i wish it would all go away. i wish it would just disappear and i could be as beautiful as the girls in a victoria secret magazine. why am i so ugly and so imperfect. why must i be this way? a knock on the door breaks me away from my brain eating thoughts.
"riland? sweetheart, i hope you're almost ready for school. you've been in the bathroom for quite some time now." my mother says softly from behind the bathroom door.
"yeah mom, sorry i'm just a bit more tired than usual. ill be out in a few."
"alright honey."
and with that i can hear her walking away from the door. i sigh. i begin to put on my makeup, and then i start putting on my school uniform, which i hate very much. after im done putting on my uniform, i put my id on which reads, "mckanny, riland. class of 2019." it's junior year and i can't wait to get out of this school. mostly because it's full of bitches who love to brag about what they have and sexist horny boys who the girls fall all over. the girls try so hard to be perfect for the boys. it gets so annoying. whatever i guess. im just glad its friday. i go into my room and grab my backpack, then head downstairs to the breakfast nook.
"hey bub, goodmorning." my dad says without looking up from his phone. probably checking his emails for work.
"morning dad." i say placing my backpack under the table and sitting down next to him.
my mom brings in a plate of pancakes, eggs, and bacon.
"goodmorning to both of my loves." my mom says kissing my dad on the cheek and then kissing me on the cheek.
"ill go grab the butter and syrup. ill be right back." my mom says setting the food down.
"smells great honey." my dad says loudly so my mom hears in the kitchen.
"thank you hun." my mom says walking in with butter and syrup, placing it down on the table. my mom sits down and we begin to eat.
"you seem very stressed mr. mckanny. what's going on?" i say looking at my dad who has his eyebrows scrunched up and keeps sighing at his phone.
"i have a big surgery coming up." my dad says placing his phone down and pouring syrup all over his pancakes.
"the chief wants me in early today, we have to figure out how to tackle this tumor. i just don't know what time ill be back home once we start that surgery."
"i hope the surgery goes well, dad." i say smiling at him, taking a bite of bacon after.
"so do i and i mean being a neurosurgeon is a very demanding job." my mom says eating a forkful of pancakes.
"thank you both and honey i know. the chief is just really on my ass about this one."
we continue to talk and once we finish our breakfast, my mom begins to clean up the plates. my dad left before he could finish all of his breakfast.
"alright. mariana should be here to clean the house before we get back and you're walking back home with tessa, right?" my mom says heading into the garage.
"yep." i say following her. i get into the passenger seat of her mercedes truck and toss my backpack in the backseat. my mom backs out of the garage and we head off to drop me to school.
