It was near peak fangirls time at Cross Academy as St. Xocolatl's Day was tomorrow. Everyone was talking about who was making chocolates for who or hoping they'd get something. My homeroom was absolutely buzzing in excitement.

Moka sat down next to me as I watched the rest of the class gush, “Aren’t you doing anything, Ann?”

I shrugged and looked at my black haired friend, “Who would I make it for? I'm not exactly dating anyone.”

“You could be,” she teased, “I've known you for almost two years and all you do is get prettier.”

Blame it on the vampire genes.

“Yeah, right. And who exactly is dating material at our school? You have Kitori, which leaves like three attractive males left, one of which is my foster brother.” I reply honestly.

“Why not the night class? They seem more serious and down to earth.”

Yeah, that's cause they'll be walking this earth long after you're gone.

I laughed, “Sure, Moka. That'd just prove the fangirls right.”

The pretty human sighed at my stubbornness, “One day, you'll see.”

And the bell rang for class.

At lunch, we had a Disciplinary committee meeting with the headmaster.

“So then, tomorrow is St. Xocolatl's Day. The school is already abuzz with excitement. The truth about the night class could easily be revealed during this time, I need you to be more alert than usual. Is that understood, Guardians?”

Yuki raised her hand, causing me to roll my eyes. Lunch is almost over, and I want to finish my food.

“Why don't we just ban this stupid event,” Zero muttered.

“Now Zero, there'd be riot if I did that. This allows students to let out a little steam, of course the Day Class looks fondly of the Night Class. All the vampires are accomplished, beautiful people. If they're our allies, than their a great resource.”

Zero clenched up in anger, while I just tried not to laugh. Kaien Cross stood up to look out the window and began his usual soliloquy about “building a bridge between vampires and humans”. To solve the tension, Yuki handed out everyone's presents.

“Here you go, Annabel,” Yuki said cheerfully. I glanced at the paper reading “One Yuki backrub.”

“Thanks,” I replied, knowing I'd never use this.

“Come on, lunch is almost over!” Yuki cried as the bell rang. I guess I won't be finishing my lunch.

The fangirls were absolute monsters today. Yuki stood on the school wall to watch over as I blocked them from the door.

“The exchange of chocolates is prohibited until the day of the event!” Yuki cried over the crowd. I noticed some students sigh and put their chocolates away, others decided to try to climb the wall. The girl fell from her friend's shoulders and into Zero’s arms.

“Oh, go Zero!” I called teasingly. Yuki and Zero took the right flank and I took the left. As the Night Class trickled through, the crowd got crazier and crazier. Aido tried to do the stupid finger gun thing, but I glared in reply. Suddenly, silence blanketed the courtyard as the vampires stared at Zero. Almost teasingly, Kaname came up to Zero and asking if he was okay. Zero replied he was ready to square up whenever. I frowned, they were going by to be a problem, weren't they.

Later on, I was helping Yuki make her chocolates. She was terribly clumsy, so leaving her alone with glass and knives was a horrible option.

“So Annabel, do you want to give anyone chocolates?”

I shook my head and continued chopping up the chocolate.

“I'm happy you talk more, we'll not as much as a normal person, but” Yuki trailed off, “You know, I'm kinda worried about Zero.”

I set down the knife, “Why?”

“Just him and Kaname, the tension is so weird when they're together.”

“It's always been bad, Yuki, you know that,” I reassure her. We didn't need her questioning Zero’s level of humanity.

The starry-eyed girl sighed, “I suppose you're right, Annabel.”

I smiled, “I usually am.”

After school the next day was chaotic. Even more than usual. Yuki took out her trusty whistle, while girls lined up at booths.

“Okay, listen up! Day Class ladies get ready to hand out as many chocolates as you can. Night Class gentlemen, go to your gates and accept the chocolate as your given it. Everything should be as orderly as possible. This is not a game!”

Aido, quite excitedly, burst forward before being yelled at by Yuki.

“Aido, we must be on our best behavior today, is that understood?” Kaname scolded from the group of vampires.

“One the whistle, girls!” Yuki tried as the whistle chipped through the air.

The girls were screaming the whole time as the night class stopped at their gates. Some were politely, others not so much. I had to blow my whistle at Aido for asking people's blood types. A couple girls tried to jump on the gate desks and had to be restrained. Slowly, the vampires trickled away, which caused the excited girls to urge forward, resulting in me falling. Yuki was freaking out on Zero about something as I got up. The girls disappointedly left the courtyard and I went to patrol.

So far, I hadn't come across any vampires or humans tonight. Bored, I went over songs in my head.

On the outside always looking in, will I ever be more than I've always been. Cause I'm tap, tapping my on the glass, waving through a window.

I try to speak, but nobody can hear, so I wait around for an answer to appear. While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass. I'm waving through a window. Can anybody see?

Suddenly, my instincts explode and I grab my knives. There were a lot of vampires nearby. I ran towards the interference to see a layer of ice by Aido and Akatsuki with leaves on fire. I counted out Shiki, Rima, and Ruka, as other perpetrators.

“It's clearly stated in the handbook that fighting is not allowed on school grounds. As a member of the Discipline Committee, I'll have to take you to the headmaster of this continues,” I state Calmly, placing up my knives.

“I don't appreciate how...easy going you are with Kaname, Annabel Quinn,” Ruka stated. I rolled my eyes.

“It's not very polite, that's for sure,” Rima added.

“I just wonder why he acts the same towards you,” Aido added. The group nodded, but Yuki jumped into the circle. The moment ruined, the vampires stepped away. They were afraid of the repercussions for hurting Yuki. The vampires walked away and Zero and Yuki had their usual “Talk to me, Zero” while Zero acted like the emo king moments. The duo walked away, leaving me alone, like always.
