Marina's POV
"What have you been up to?" Cora asked suspiciously. It's been a week since my last encounter with Chase, the one which I want to forget.
I was starting to get nervous about Cora's question. I mean, she knows that I stay on the land more than I do in the sea and it was fine with her and she doesn't ask questions. But now, why us she suddenly asking me that?
"What do you mean?" I asked as I swim away, with Cora trailing behind me.
"Well, you've been acting very strange lately. I'm starting get worried." She said while putting her hand on my shoulder. Oh my God, does she know?
"I'm alright, Cora. Why wouldn't I be?" I innocently replied. Cora sighed.
"Marina, be careful. I heard that a bunch of vampires moved to the town. And as my friend, I want you to protect yourself at all times."
"I'm fine, Cora. Don't worry about me." I explained and she sighed.
"You're right. I'm too over-acting." She shrugged. "Well, I gotta go and tell the others to get back on the fishermen." Cora swam away and went to a bunch of mermaids gathering around.
In case you're wondering, we're all ladies. We weren't born, cause there are no such things as mermen. Us mermaids just popped into this world.
But we can have sexual intercourse. When we turn human, of course. But like I said, we, mermaids are not compatible to anybody so we wouldn't have to worry about getting pregnant.
Anyway, I decided to go to the town again. It's quite boring down here. And besides, I have a job to go to.
Like I said, I spend most if my time on land. If you see me, you'll be mistaken that I'm a real human. Some of the mermaids are mad at me cause they say that I socialize too much with humans and that I'm becoming more like them. I don't care.
Actually, humans are nice. Well, not all of them. And especially not the guys.
But yeah, I live a normal human life in Braidwood (that's the name if the town), I have a job, a house, and I have friends. Human friends, the idea which the mermaids hate. But like I said, I don't care.

I went to my house and changed. It's just a simple house fit for one living person. I bought this house because I want to live a normal human life here in Braidwood, like I said. But I also go to the sea, of course. It is still my real home.
But I'm just really fascinated by how the humans live, so I decided to be like one of them, but of course I still kill men.
In all the mermaids, I'm the only one who stays too long on land. I guess they're pretty scared to stay here that long. But I'm not.
After changing, I went outside. It seems like a pretty night to stroll around the town. And a pretty night to have something to eat, too. In case your wondering, it's not only humans I eat. I also eat human food of course, but human flesh is still better.
As I was walking down a dark narrow alley, I spotted a guy leaning on a wall. Even with the dim lights, I still manage to make out how his face look like, and he sure is handsome.
"Are you lost, babe?" The guy grinned.
"Yes I am, can you help me?" I seductively said as I walk closer to the guy. He grinned wider, getting my message.
"Sure. Now where do you want to go?" He leaned closer, our lips only inches apart.
"Anywhere with you." I whispered before slowly connecting my lips to his.
