Chapter five - Returning the favour

The little girl has been shivering like a fish out of the water. I could see tears trickling down her pinky cheeks. The hot girl next to her held her tightly to make sure she doesn’t escape. I could see her lips tremble, she was going to say something but her fear did not let her.

I decided to change the position to get a more clear view. From the place where I was all I could see was Wendy from behind. I crouched and walked taking very slow steps while covering myself from the big concrete slab nearby. When I turned back I saw Dalton going to the opposite direction. I couldn’t shout to call him. They will notice us by any chance. I’ll get him through the phone once I hide. Just then I noticed some big iron pipes.  They were big enough for me to squeeze in and watch the show that was going on. The girls were so busy that I managed to get to the other side without being noticed. Now I could see Wendy from an angle.  She was shocked and speechless. I saw her mouth half opened with fear. Her eyes have gone wide like an owl. The other girl had a triumphant grin. Victory has been written all over her face. The poor little girl who Wendy called as Jessica covered her face with her small hands.

“So Wendy, are you going to turn in or shall I make you?”  The chick’s voice came sarcastically. She leaned and gave kiss to Jessica’s cheek. She looked away in disgust. Even though the chick was so hot, I believe that no one liked her.

“Leave Jessica out of this Lumen, She has nothing to do with this” Wendy spoke in anger. Replying to that Lumen laughed.

“How come she has nothing to do with this? Everyone who escaped the facility is responsible for this. I am taking all of you down, One by one.

“How did you find me?” Wendy questioned. Lumen chuckled again.

“For that you must thank your little friend here” Lumen sent her fingers through her hair, rubbing it. When Wendy saw this, I saw her face changed into something unbearable.

“Leave her alone” Wendy screamed. Lumen looked at her, and then she stopped rubbing Jessica’s hair.

“How did you find me?” she almost screamed this time. It was already getting dark. I could see the street lamps coming to life.

“It was easy” the chick pointed her finger to her right eye. “This eye sees everything” suddenly a holographic green square became visible in front of her. It was like Wow. I have seen those kinds of contraptions only in movies. Never knew that they are already out in the market. The square was large enough for me to see what it included. It was a satellite image of a field. Something like a construction site I guess. Just like Google earth. Then two white holographic squares popped in the middle. Then above them it displayed a sequence of words. I crawled a bit more forward to see what the words actually were.  Above the squares there were two names. One was Jessica. The other was Lumen. Holy shit! It is where we are right now. Fortunately I was hiding in a pipe. Maybe that is the reason I am not visible on the screen. I could see the vast metal pipes from above. I squeezed in a bit more to make sure that Lumen will not notice a least a single piece of hair. Above all Wendy was nowhere to be seen in the screen.

“I knew Jessica’s weakness was you. From that I managed to find out that she is looking for you. Thanks to the data you have destroyed, it is taking a while to recover the data. I was waiting for Jessica’s data to be recovered. Once I found her I knew it would be a piece of cake to get to you. Our first priority is you Wendy. They want you so badly”

Wendy did not utter a word. I feel like It was time for her to go home, to wherever she came from. She was looking at the sand. Lumen released her hand from Jessica and walked towards her. The holographic screen vanished as Lumen walked through it, she reached Wendy and held her chin tightly. I could see her helpless eyes staring at Lumen. The eyes presented rage that could burn a whole city. Suddenly I heard a beep. That was my phone
