As soon as I walk into the Training Center, I immediately empty my expression. I go straight to the knives and I pick up a dozen. There are about a hundred dummies and I start throwing my knives at them. Each knife hits the target.

I look up to see if the gamemakers are impressed. I scowl as I watch them eat and talk to each other. I grab another knife and throw it at one gamemaker. I watch as I slides through his cuff of his shirt and never touching his skin. The knife hits the wall, pinning the gamemaker to it.

All the gamemakers are giving me their full attention. I glare at them. "Thank you for your lovely courtesy," I practically growl. I rush out of the Training Center and run into all of my perfect family. Jared, Katniss, and Peeta stares at me and I glower back.

"How did you do?" Haymitch came in behind them.

"I probably got a 0, if that's even possible," I sigh and walk between Peeta and Jared. Both of them grab me and pull me back.

"Let me go!" I say, struggling. Katniss is watching me with no expression, her eyes empty. I wonder if that's how I would look if I won the Games. I shake the feeling off.

"What happened?" Jared tips my chin up and looks into my blue eyes, forcing me to look back into his own brown eyes.

"What happened?" He repeats. He's still holding my chin up.

"Nothing," I mutter trying to look down. Jared tips my chin up even more until I had no other choice but to stare into his face.

"It couldn't have been nothing, Lavender. Or you wouldn't be so upset," Peeta says. Jared lets my chin go and I nearly sigh in relief.

"Ok," I sigh loudly. "I might of threw a knife at a gamemaker," I say. "But it didn't hit him! It went through his shirt and into the wall," I blush. Peeta and Haymitch stare at me with an open mouth that turns into a smile quickly enough. I gape at them.

"Why the heck are you smiling?" I snap. Peeta laughs.

"Do you know how Katniss got her 11?" Peeta smiles happily at me. I shake my head.

"She got angry with the gamemakers and used a bow and arrow that hit an apple," Peeta says. I nod. Then I get it.

"So, I just did something daring, so the Gamemakers will probably give me high results. Right?" I smile. Katniss nods. I stare at her. It's the first time she has ever reacted to anything since the train. She stares back, her gray eyes searching my face.

"Please don't die. Either of you," Katniss says as she walks off. All of us stare after her with mouths open.

"Sorry," Peeta says apologetically and rushes after her. I choke back a sob, everything coming back. Tomorrow is the Games. I sink to the floor and put my head in my hands. Jared goes to his knees and wraps his arms around me.

"It's okay," He says. I nod in response and pull my head up. Jared looks down at me and smiles softly. He wipes off my tears and stares deep into my eyes. I feel some weird emotion, and I don't know what it is. Jared pulls me closer and tips my chin up.

"I've always wanted to do this," He says as he presses his lips against mine. My eyes widen, but I don't pull away. My eyes slowly close and I get more embedded into his embrace. Wait. I can't do this. I push Jared away and I get up.

"This is wrong, Jared. I might have to kill you in the Arena. I'm not letting anyone close to me," I walk off, leaving Jared staring after me, something in is eyes.
