Chapter One.)
Abandoned
-----------------------
You groaned as your eyes opened to the bright light of the morning sun flooding in from outside your window. Slowly exhaling, you push yourself up in your bed glancing around at the blank walls of your new bedroom. Tossing the covers off your body, you make your way into the white-washed bathroom, cringing at your disheveled appearance in the mirror. You turn the water on in the shower, making it warm before stripping and letting the warm water caress your (s/c) skin as you sigh happily. You had recently moved to this bustling town, fresh out of professional art school you were looking to make a life for yourself and find a career. You had some great ideas stored away in your mind, sketches typically littered your room as idea after idea poured from your mind onto paper. All you wanted to be was an animator. To be the reason that little kids smile at their televisions in the morning, or to entertain teens and adults alike at the same time. Though as much as you wanted to.. you couldn't produce a T.V. show from your apartment.
Which was why you moved here. Skimming the internet and finding that in this town there was an abandoned lot for sale that happened to be and old animation studio. The cost being shockingly low for the square footage and you happily purchased the lot. Today you were going to check it out for the first time, your apartment only being a block from the studio itself.
You approached the building, the structure looking sound from the outside as you smiled to yourself. The less destruction, the less money you'd have to spent which meant more money for supplies and advertising for your company, "Tangled Toons Inc." Well.. that was going to be the name of the company when you actually started to get it off the ground, right now it was all in your head.
You pulled the keys out of your pocket that had been sent to you in the mail by the pervious owner who had seemed delighted to get it off his hands. The keys came with a note reading:
"Dear (Y/n),
Thank you so much for taking this property off my hands. It relieves a.. heavy burden. It's all yours now, enjoy! Good luck...
Your Pal, Joey Drew"It was odd but you had brushed it off as he was just overwhelmed and happy to get rid of one issue. You slipped the key into the lock and sure enough is clicked as your turned the knob and pushed the door open.
The door closed behind you as you stepped inside, at first glance, the place looked like any abandoned studio. You smiled as you gazed over the posters lining the walls and the sketches scattered amongst the tables and the cardboard cutouts of an old cartoon character you knew all to well.
"Hey Bendy, how ya' holdin' up?" You smiled as you poked one of the cardboard cutouts. The little dancing devil was you main staple show as a child. He was what inspired your want to draw which ultimately lead to your want to be a creator. What were the odds that you had purchased the very studio where your hero was made? But a better question, why was the studio in such a disheveled condition?
As you explored more you found that the internal structure had suffered some major damage and.. renovation of a strange kind. There were pipes that were filled with ink popping out of the walls, some of which springing leaks which left the floor with ink splotches. You ran into a wall and noticed that it had.. a message written in ink.
"Dreams come true? This isn't Disney.." you scoffed to yourself as you read it aloud. You explored more, using your phones flashlight to navigate the semi-dark halls. You turned into the hallways and ran into a room labeled specifically: Ink Machine.
"What the.. this thing is huge.. what is is even for?!" You quizzed aloud as you walked around the massive contraption dripping with ink. You shook it off and explored further, trying to shake the unsettled feeling in your body as you looked around. Though it only increased as you turned the corner. You gasped and covered your mouth before you could scream as you dropped your phone in shock.
The room held the beloved Boris the Wolf, strapped to an upright examination table with is chest forced open and rib cage exposed. Ink splattered everywhere and an eternal look of suffering stuck on his face, his eyes in "X" shapes as of it was some kind of sick cartoon joke.
You hands shook as you picked up your phone, slowly stepping forward as you walked into the candle lit room. You gulped as you read the words splashed on the wall: Who's Laughing Now? Your eyes filled with tears as you were overwhelmed with so many questions and fears at once.
How was Boris alive and real?
Who did this to him and why?
What the HELL was going on here?!
Your mind was running circles as your ran from the room and down the hallway, finding a projection room where they most likely watched episodes before they aired. You sat down in one of the chairs as you tried to calm down, wiping the tears that you hadn't even realized had fallen. You ruffled your (h/c) hair and claimed your breathing as you made a mental decision. You were going to find out what the hell was happening here or more.. what had happened before it was all abandoned.
