It was the stormiest night that ever came. My father disowned me and even the people treat me as a criminal. I ran away. I did that for the sake of our people. Both of my sisters’ died in completing the quest. I admit I did love Christopher but that’s when I didn’t know that he’s the only son of our enemy.

//Flashback//

I met him for the first time when I sneak past my guards. I was so young that time I always want to seek attention from my sisters. There was a festival that day so there are lots of people everywhere. I was fascinated with the unusual colours of the lanterns and piñata everywhere. Out of nowhere, someone pulled my hand and dragged me towards a secret place. I was so scared that moment. He was a stranger after all and I can’t just trust someone like him.

“Don’t make any noise,” he demanded. I was stunned. No one ever dare shut me up like that. No one ever told me what to do, except my father. I turned my attention to him before furrowing my eyebrows.

“Why should I follow you? You’re not my father and I barely even know you! Who are you?!” I yelled at him.

“I’m Christopher and now you better be quiet or else your guards will found you,” he said and with that, I became silent and discreet. He pokes his head towards the small alley and looked from right to left.

“The princess might be here somewhere!” I said Aiden exclaimed. I glanced at Christopher who just put his finger over his lips. I nodded my head before hiding behind him. After the guards ran past us, I sighed with satisfaction. Before I could protest, he pulled me towards the opposite direction.

“Hey! Where are we going?”

“You should change your clothes. People will recognize you once they see you wearing your family’s crest. Now, follow me,” he said before walking towards a small hut. A woman in maybe 40’s sauntered towards us. “Mother, I bet you recognize her but don’t tell anyone about this,” he said before walking past his mother.

We entered their house. He gestured me to sit down at the cotton pillow. I followed him and sat right there. My eyes scanned the room and I was fascinated by the style of their house. It was a simple house but really beautiful. Christopher took more than a minute and I got fed-up. I got up from my seat and looked at the pictures displayed above the cabinet. This must be him, the little guy with his father. His father looks familiar but I shrugged it off.

“What are you looking at?” I heard him asked. I turn around and there I saw him holding a dress.

“What are those?”

“Your clothes. My mother will bring those clothes back to your palace.”

“And what will happen next? Guards will chase me here?”

“No, you don’t have to worry about that. We can run away from them. It’s like cat-mouse chase. They chase us; we’ll run, we’ll hide.”

“Okay, okay. So, when are we going?” I asked him.

“After you change, duh?!” he answered. I rolled my eyes at him before taking the clothes from his gripped. These clothes were the ones the slaves were wearing. Another experience for mischievous princess!

“Are you done now?” I heard him yelled.

“Almost, just give me a minute!” I yelled back. I heard him grumbled something but I simply shrugged it off. One moment… why do I feel so comfortable with him and why am I following him? Well, he helped me escaping the guards but that counts right? Hmm, whatever.

I unlocked the door revealing Christopher who’s wearing a simply clothing for man. “Finally, after million years you came out of that room. Ready to go?” he asked and I nodded. For the rest of the day, we spend every moment with full happiness. I don’t know why but there’s something about him… maybe his eyes or his nose.
