Canada was originally discovered by Scotland, before France took him in.
The real reason England took Canada is because he thought that Scotland would be happier with a new little brother, but when he tried to give Canada to Scotland he refused, Scotland believed that he could never be the role model Canada deserved, but whenever scot attends a world meeting he keeps an eye on the shy little Canadian.
