Griffin Kaught sat at his desk wondering when school would be over. It just started but it feels like forever. All day he got handfuls of paper from his teachers with barely any explanation on how to do the homework. He never knew that his senior year would be so gruesome on him. Last week he almost failed to turn a paper in on time because of it.
Griffin had brown hair that curled a bit. Not too curly, but still a little. His eyes were a hazel color and told little about him. He had a serious poker face. He had a few stray freckles, but if you weren't looking for them, they could barely see a thing. He didn't mind the freckles, but still gets a little upset when seeing more appear. Griffin was sort of easy going but if he didn't like anything, he would tell you.
Griffin looked at the clock and saw there was only five minutes left of math and even better, the school day. The teacher was finishing the lesson and had the class finish the rest of the questions on the sheet for homework, then gave them the rest of the class to chat.
Griffin turned around to see Xavier waving to him. He had red, curly hair and some freckles. He's always very energetic."Yo Fin! Can I come over tonight? I really need help with the homework, and I can help you empty your fridge. How 'bout it man?"
Griffin laughed at his red-headed friend. "Yeah sure, why not? It's not like I value food in my refrigerator or anything. We just can't eat a lot of food like last time. My mom yelled at me for being a pig and eating everything. But seriously, who doesn't love food?" Right then the bell rang and everyone rushed out of the school in an attempt to escape.
Xavier is hopping with excitement once Griffin said yes."All right dude! So, are we walking to your place or what? Let's move it Kaught! Hey, silly question but did your mom bake that pie you were talking about earlier?"
Griffin sighed. "Yes she did but it is off limits. Don't even look at it! That pie is for Collin since he's coming home from college for spring break." Collin was Griffin's older brother. They weren't that close but that was only because college is in the way. He and Collin used to be inseparable. Now they joke around and all that but the two of them barely talk when Collin isn't at their house or near Griffin.
Xavier sputtered. "Wh-what!? I wasn't even going to Fin! It was just a curiosity, that's all..." He then said with a sheepish grin, "Okay, maybe I wanted to but I wasn't going to eat it. How's Collin anyway? I haven't seen him in forever!"
Griffin shrugged. "I don't know. I guess he's alright. Doing pretty well in college anyway. He's a bit upset though because his girlfriend dumped him for a stupid reason. She liked someone else and right after she broke up with Collin, she and the other guy hooked up. It's rough for him right now." Griffin left out the part where Collin's girlfriend was cheating with the other guy while they were dating. Xavier didn't need to know that, or hear it from him. It is Collins story to tell, at least the really twisted parts anyway...
"Oh dude, that's terrible! Will I see him at your house today? Or, maybe I can come over when he's going to eat that pie! Well, anytime I can see him is fine. He needs the best help ever, me! Ok, maybe not the best but close to."
They started walking towards Griffins house in silence, but that was normal since there wasn't a lot to talk about. As they were walking Griffin got a text on his phone from Frank. Frank usually didn't bother with anyone other than his friends unless there was a party or something like that. The text read "Hey Griffin! If you can get this to Xavier let him know that you both can come to the party at my house tomorrow, 8pm to whenever dude. Bring booze or whatever if you guys can. See ya there, huh?" Griffin of course wouldn't bring any drinks but would still go if Xavier was.
"Hey Xavier. Frank has this party tomorrow night at eight, wanna go? It'll be something fun to do, and it will take our minds off homework. And who doesn't like to socialize?"
"Well jeez dude, if you put it like that it sounds boring and terrible! But it won't be so I think we should go. Let's party!!! Do we need to do anything for Frank?"
Griffin shook his head. "Nope, we don't need to. He wants drinks but I don't think we should bring any. If someone finds out about the party and that we brought drinks to it, I don't want to be responsible for it. That will look bad for us later in life, like for college or jobs."
"C'mon Fin! Don't worry about that. We won't bring drinks but stop being deep and stuff. It's annoying, you sound like the teachers and parents. Have fun yo! Now that we're past that subject, I think we should think about English. What the cheese do we do? Mr. Kyles didn't explain it to us, he only said to write an essay about chapter five in the book. It's horrible! English ain't my strongest subject, as you can tell. Haha, I said ain't when talking about English! Take that Mr. Kyles!"
"Xavier, I don't think he can hear you, let alone be smart. Fun fact. Ain't is a word in the English dictionary. It's a contraction of am not, is not, and a few others. It's considered slang but can be used to catch attention or to gain emphasis. And it first came into use during 1706. So I guess if Mr. Kyles could hear you, he would be wrong to yell at you for your use of language. Now you can tell him that when you use the word ain't and you'll see his face. It'll be hilarious!"
"Fin, I'm not gonna remember that! That's your job to remember, and my job to eat your food and have you help me. Speaking of food, maybe your mom can make me a pie too!" Xavier added after seeing Griffin give him a look, "Aw dude, I'm only joking! But if she makes me a pie I will take it, no doubt about it. Remember: if I get a pie from you it better not be weird flavored. You know what I mean, right? 'Cause that's odd. No experimental pies to me. Unless it's awesome."
The two stopped in front of Griffins house. "Xavier, let's just get your homework done, alright? We'll talk about pie later."

Alrighty, yay! My first book is started! I plan to have at least 1000 words per chapter to give yourself an okay amount to read. It might not always be that way, maybe shorter but I will try my best. This chapter has 1156 words (or more) not including the note right here. This is just here to celebrate... Something and thank those of you that read this. Hope you liked it, peace!
Oh and, just one question. Who do you like best so far?
Xavier or Griffin?
Maybe Frank from the small little text?
