"Lulu can you show Noah around the house and where he will be staying?"
My mother asked after she introduced Brianna and I to the family. Mark, the father. Selena, the mother. Lacy the younger 12 year old daughter. And last, Noah.
"Sure thing mom" I said timidly.
"I guess I'll head home now.. I have a lot of homework tonight anyways."
Brianna said as she was already walking out the front door.
"Don't leave me in this situation.." I said in that angry kind of whisper.
And she's gone.
There was an awkward silence as I led him up the stairs. Why am I being put in this situation. What did I ever do to deserve this?
"So are you going to the spring formal?" Noah asked me breaking the silence that he obviously noticed too. "How do you know about that? You've been at Armour Heights for less than a day." I asked another question on top of his. "C'mon, news travels fast. I was just wondering if you had a date." Noah said with a slight smile growing across his face.
"Damn. A little aggressive to already be asking me considering we just met like 5 minutes ago." I replied in an angry tone.
"What? Do you think I'm hitting on you? I'm not asking you to the dance. Damn. Girls these days are so self centered about everything. I've been here for like 5 minutes ya know." Noah replied with a smirk. I ignored his last comment.
I don't need to be socializing with a guy like that. I've got better things to worry about.
We walked through the large corridor upstairs with my bedroom, brothers bedroom, bathroom and guest room.
"Well, here you are." I said gesturing to the guest room. "Thanks for the tour." He said with another smirk across his face. Not going to lie, his smart ass smirk was kind of attractive. Wait, what am I thinking? He's gonna be living under the same roof as me and is kind of a jerk, I can't think he's attractive or this will get weird..
"No problem." I started to walk away when I heard him call, "Lexie?"
I turned around.
"Yes?" I replied hesitantly wishing he would just let me walk away freely. "Did you see the fight this morning?" He said it as if he were shy to talk about it. "Umm what fight?" I asked innocently.
I don't know why I lied.
He looked at me like I was stupid. "Wait, how did you find out?" He asked obviously seeing through my lie."C'mon, stuff gets around." I said as I was already walking down the hallway .
"Well I'm sorry you had to see that."
"Lulu!" I heard my mom scream. Shit. She sounds angry...
"Well, uh, have fun getting settled in, I'll uh, see you later." I said nervously to Noah then speeding up my pace as I continued down the hallway.
I walked down the stairs just to meet my mom at the bottom.
"Yes?" I asked. She just continued to glare at me. "You know your grade dropped right?"
"Umm yes." I couldn't lie to her. I knew my chemistry grade was shit so I knew I was in some trouble.
"If you become ineligible for next weeks games, your father will not be too happy about." She said sternly.
"I know, I know." I said quietly knowing I would be in some deep shit if he found it.
You know how your mom and dad aren't really equally powerful in the house, there's always one that's like the dictator of the family and no one can over power them? Yea, that's my dad. And if he found out I was almost failing chemistry, I would be saying goodbye to my phone, laptop, tv and any other kind of device that supplies my entertainment.
...
It was Monday morning, my favorite day of all. Just kidding. Mondays suck ass and I wish I could get out of this stupid high school routine, just 2 more years. Maybe I should actually start getting dressed....hmmm maybe not.
When I finally found the energy to get myself out of bed I realized I was about to walk out of my room in my pajamas, spandex and a loose T-shirt that wasn't necessarily appropriate enough to walk around my house freely in anymore. It had bleach stains all over it but it was the kind of loose that would show every thing if moved the wrong way. Usually I'm not too concerned but I vaguely remembered the fact that a 17 year old boy could be roaming my house freely and I don't have my safe zone anymore.. Well actually my safe zone was just reduced to my bedroom.
"Morning! Sleep well?" I was welcomed to the kitchen by an energetic voice and a warm face smiling at me intently. Selena. I thought to myself. "Umm, morning Mrs. Johnson." I replied as I was in mid yawn.
Usually I'm not greeted this nicely by my family so I might as well embrace it for the time being.
"Ooh call me Selena, dear! No need to be formal here! After all, your family did offer to let us stay here."
Selena was definitely a morning person. She was cheerful while talking to me and I felt kinda bad that all I did was nod my head and yawn.
"Want me to make you a plate Lulu?" I heard a familiar voice ask from behind me. "Sure mom, since you offered."
Eventually I sat down at the table, across from Selena. "Thanks." I said as my plate was placed in front of me.
"I really hope Noah will fit in at school." I looked up at Selena, surprised she said that in a concerned tone considering she was just in an oddly happy mood. "Umm why wouldn't he? New students adapt pretty quickly and seem to always fit in right away" I said trying to make her less worried. "Oh, that's not what I was concerned about, dear." I noticed her facial expression changed in an unusual way. "It's just," She paused. "He got kicked out of his last school for fighting, and of course, first day at a new school he's already fighting again. He's just lucky he got off with a warning."
Seriously, his first day and the stupid kid is already in a fight. What could have possibly been said in order to get him in a fight on his first day?
"Oh yeah." I somehow managed to forget about that already.
I started hearing footsteps near the kitchen. Probably Lacy.
"Why you guys talking about me?" I hear another voice join the conversation as I continued stuffing my face with pancakes.
