Hmmmmmmmm...

This is dedicated to ConanShinichiLover and ChocoMeoka. I haven't actually done dedications in a while. I couldn't add your name, ChocoMeoka, to the dedication at the top but, yeah. Ah, well...

"I thought we made you a key."

"I lost it."

Naruto woke up to two voices talking in the kitchen. He had passed out on the couch after an intense training session with Kurama and didn't exactly feel like doing anything. Still, the voices seemed really familiar and he couldn't place where they're from.

"If I open this fridge and see the dreaded stuff, I will murder you."

"Relax, I got rid of it this morning."

Oh, Kami.

"Edward?!" He bolted upright, eyes wide, and threw off the blanket set on his lap. He vaguely recognized it as Shikamaru's.

The voices went silent before both Edward and Shikamaru poked their heads out from around the wall separating the kitchen from the living room. The golden-eyed teen (by appearance) smiled, trying to look as innocent as possible, "Oh, hey, Naruto. We made breakfa-" He made a small 'oof' sound when the Nara elbowed him in the stomach and gave him a small glare before repeating what he was saying with only a small fix, "He made breakfast."

"Um..." Naruto couldn't really compute what was going on except for the fact that Edward and Shikamaru seemed to have become friends except that he was sure the Nara hadn't even known of the Elric's existence before today. "What the hell is going on?"

"Naruto!" Alphonse walked in, moving around the blonde and brunette standing in the doorway of the kitchen. His voice was properly scolding as he said, "You shouldn't speak like that!"

"Right, sorry, it's just... Ed, Shika, how do you know each other?"

Edward and Shikamaru looked at each other, both with their hands in their pockets, before the Elric's gaze morphed into a glare, "Well, this idiot prince decided to break into the house, messing up the place."

"Well, I wouldn't have to break in, Edo, if you had just kept the door unlocked," The Nara drawled, shrugging his shoulders.

"Don't call me that. I gave you a house key for a reason!"

"And I told you I lost it. I had to get in somehow."

"Or not at all."

"Brother," Alphonse put a hand on the Elric's shoulder, shaking his head. "You shouldn't be so rude. Shikamaru-kun did make breakfast for you and Naruto."

Edward huffed and Naruto watched in astonishment as he visibly calmed down, rolling his shoulder and leaning a bit in his little brother's touch before moving back in the kitchen, "Tch, whatever. Get up already, Naru. You have to eat before seeing your "team.""

"It's just 'team', Nii-san, not "team,"" Naruto corrected, going over to the kitchen.

No, it's "team." You and the Uchiha seem to have a mutual dislike for each other and the bubblegum princess can't get her head out of the fucking clouds.

'We're trying.'

You are but are they?

Naruto found that he didn't have an answer to the demon's question. He didn't think he'd ever have one anytime soon.

Kakashi decided, as he made his way through the village, that he'd have his genin do another D-rank mission weeding a garden. He knew they hated it (trust him, he knew) but they had to learn to work together. Sasuke and Naruto had this rivalry that was (kind of) stupid. At times, they would grudgingly help each other and, at other times, they would sabotage each other. The Haruno would just stand around gazing at the two with heart eyes, not really contributing to the team at all. He needed to do something about it.

He could see Naruto walking with Shikamaru, Alphonse, and another blonde. They were making their way to the training grounds, he knew, but they were going at a lazy pace, showing that they knew he wouldn't arrive there just yet. He stopped to observe the three more. The Nara and Uzumaki were talking to each other while the other blonde and Alphonse walked slowly behind them, listening quietly.

The blonde wore a black outfit, the hood on his long-sleeved shirt pulled up and hiding his hair. The only reason Kakashi even knew he was blonde was because his hair had been pulled back in a braid like Naruto's, the end sitting over his shoulder. He wasn't actually necessarily blonde, now that the Hatake got a better look at him as he got closer. His hair was gold, like his eyes, and Kakashi felt like he saw him before. He was so familiar.

He hid when they came past and heard something strange coming from the mysterious gold-haired person. His footsteps were uneven on the dirt, like he only had one leg and something metal was crashing to the floor.

--

Kakashi decided not to talk to Naruto about the person (seeing as he didn't want to admit that he had nothing better to do than actually go to the training grounds and be a teacher). The mission went perfectly aside from the fact that the Haruno refused to touch any of the weeds and Naruto couldn't actually tell which ones were weeds and which weren't.

The Uzumaki didn't seem bothered at all, he was his usual bubbly self. He was energetic and happy, nearly bouncing on the walls. When they were walking to the Hokage's tower, he ignored the villagers' sneers and glares like he never even noticed them. When one man decided to throw a bottle at the blonde, the boy's demeanor completely changed before Kakashi could even take half a step forward. The boy didn't move, kept his calm walk, but he tilted his head quickly and let the bottle fly past. He rolled one shoulder and that was like a signal because Alphonse just turned around and socked the guy, making him go flying.

Sasuke let out a surprised snort, eyes wide with actual mirth, and he didn't protest when the Uzumaki let out a sudden bark of laughter and grabbed his arm, dragging the Uchiha away before anyone could say a word.

Kakashi could only blink, wondering what the hell just happened, before he had the sense to follow the kids since people were coming out to see what happened. It was kind of funny, all things considered. He dragged the Haruno along with him since they needed to speak to the Hokage as a team, and caught up to the Uzumaki and Uchiha easily enough.

The Hatake could see something he never did before. While the kids were rivals, Naruto and Sasuke were best friends, too.
