"So, mind telling me your story now?" Dean smirked and looked over at Cas, who was staring intently out the window at the passing farm houses and grazing animals.

Cas sat up straight and looked at Dean with pained eyes, deep and blue. Those eyes seemed to punch Dean in the gut and he felt like doubling over in pain. He winced and looked away, "Sorry man.... I know how personal people's lives can be. " Dean shrugged and gripped the steering wheel, his knuckles stinging. What was wrong with him? This guy was just a normal, low life hitch hiker.

"It's alright, " Cas sighed, "I have nothing else to lose... What does it matter if I tell you. "

"You don't have too.. "

"I was kicked out of my home," Castiel began, his heart thudding nervously in his chest, "My parents... Their strict, religious people. Set in their ways. And I'm... I'm gay. "

Dean held his breath and bit his lower lip, "And they kicked you out? " he exhaled slowly, "For being gay? Man... That's sick. "

Cas looked at Dean, his eyes set in confusion, "Dean... Why... "

"Why aren't I freaking out, calling you a Faggot and kicking you to the side of the road?" Dean chuckled softly, "Because I get you. I do. And I know how it feels to be ran over by people you love and tossed to your death with out hesitation.... Man, I know. " His green eyes held the sign of pain and weakness and Cas felt himself melt into the car seat, he felt pity. He felt pity for Dean, even though it was him getting the ride, him with the dorky trench coat and the uncombed hair. But he felt pity. Regardless.

They sat like that in silence, riding down the road with the weights of their shoulders having been lifted up and away into the sky, never to be seen again. Castiel felt a connection to Dean and he bit back tears, he didn't want to. He had to keep running. He had to say goodbye.

"You can drop me off here, " Cas pointed out the window at a small hotel that rested on the qiuet road just outside of the town ahead. The building was a salmon color and had a brown roof, chipping with decay and mold. The sign said 'Oak town Hotel'.

Dean parked the car and sat in silence, not wanting to let Cas go for reasons he wouldn't dare admit, "Cas... " Dean ran his pointer and index finger down the crook of his nose, "I just... Thanks man. "

Cas held the door open, one foot outside and one in the car, "For what, Dean? "

Dean looked at him, his eyes piercing, "For keeping me company. I don't usually get to meet a good person like you on the side of the road, " Dean reached into the breast pocket of his red work shirt and handed Castiel a teared piece of lined paper with his number scribbled in it, "Call me if you need any help, buddy. Okay? "

Cas nodded and took the paper, fitting it snugly into his coats pocket. He slung his bag over his shoulder and stepped out of the car, waving to Dean as he walked towards the hotel.

Dean sat there for a while, just watching Castiels back as he walked to the office of the hotel. He sighed and put the key into the ignition of his impala and slowly made his way down the road, turning the radio on.

"Closed my eyes.... Only for a moment and the moments gone.. " Dean sang softly, feeling tears claw at his eyes. He shook his head, what was wrong with him. He thought of Sammy now.... "All my dreams pass before my eyes, a curiosity... " He thought of his dad... And he thought of the Man, Cas. How is it that one person you've known for only a few hours can make you nostalgic, and make you feel pain... And more feelings he's ever wanted to experience. He never wanted to feel this way again... But here he was. And that's when he knew.

A smile tugged at his lips, "Dust in the wind... All they are is dust in the wind. "

He spun the steering wheel around and drove back down the road he came from, singing along to the music, smiling wide. Finally he came back to the hotel and parked in the lonely lot, accompanied by only a blue Toyota Sedan and a red pick up truck.

He grabbed his bag and slipped on his worn leather jacket, humming to himself as he walked into the office of the hotel.

"afternoon!" A tall burly man took Deans cash from his warm hand, "how many? "

Dean tilted his head and smirked, "Just me.. "

The man smiled and tugged at his grey moustache, "Okay... Room 8." He handed Dean his room key.

Dean grabbed the key and walked down the breezeway, passing the row of blue painted doors until he came upon room 8. He slipped the key into the lock and opened the door into a small room with a king sized bed, a small box TV, a bathroom, a mini fridge and a microwave, and a stool sized dresser. He put his coat on the bed and sat down, staring at the wall in front of him, his mind racing.

What room was Cas in? He hadn't even thought to ask the man in the office. Dean got up and walked outside, glancing to the right. Office, that way. He slowly made his way to the office, passing the vending machine. He was about to pass room 1 when a low voice called his name out.

"Dean?"

Dean spun around and smiled, Cas was standing behind him. All clean, cut, and confused, "Hey. " Dean said softly.

"What are you doing here? " Cas asked, His blue eyes searching Dean.

"I want you to come with me, Cas... " Dean said, stepping forwards, "I have no friends... No life. Your probably going to get raped by a biker. " Dean chuckled and Cas squinted his eyes in confusion.

"You what me to come with you? " Cas asked, "Where?"

Dean sighed, "I don't know... " maybe he came back for nothing. What was he thinking! He doesn't know this guy. He's always been happy by himself! Why would he...

"yes, " Cas said, "Yes, Dean. I will come with you if you wish." He smiled and Dean could of sworn he saw tears in Castiels eyes.

"Well, now this is awkward... " Dean mumbled, fiddling with his key.

Cas smiled and Deans heart almost stopped. That smile. Dammit, Dean... Pull it together, "Okay.. So.. You wanna leave now, or.... "

"We can leave now.. " Cas nodded, walking to his door and opening it. He grabbed his bag that was sitting at the Floor by his feet and slung it over his shoulder, "Let's go. "

As they walked to the impala and got in, Cas asked Dean a question, "Are we going to regret this, Dean? "

Dean glanced over at Cas, his smile unbreakable, "I really hope not Cas. Because If I believe in anything.... It's definitely not destiny. I always believed you made your own future... Your own life. But hell, Cas.. I'm pretty sure I met you for a reason. "

Cas looked down at his hands and felt his face flush. dean turned the radio back on and they drove away from the hotel and to the road ahead. Dean still didn't know where he was going, but at least he had someone with him. At least that someone was Cas. All we are is dust in the wind.
