Dean squinted, feeling the bright sun from the window awaken him. He turned on his side and sniffed, eyes still closed. It smelled like beer.. The room. Pungent. Warm. He opened his eyes slowly and gasped, seeing the blurry figure sitting in front of him. He sat up, rubbing his eyes, "Cas! What the hell, man! "Cas glanced at the clock on the nightstand, trying to avoid Deans eyes. 6:30 am. Cas sighed and rubbed his eyes. This was it. Dean was going to leave him. He would be alone again, on the rode until someone else came and he ruined that friendship too. He began to sob softly and attempted to hide his face in his hands. It wasnt working. He could taste the salty tears on his lips and tried to stand up. Dean stopped him, grasping him by his coat. Cas took a deep breath, and turned back around slowly.
"What the hell, man?" Dean asked. But it wasn't a suggestively mean approach on the situation, like Cas would of expected. It wasn't an insult or a remark of disgust...it was a sincere question. Calm and concerned, "Sit." he pulled up a chair and grabbed a beer.
Cas looked up at Dean....his blue eyes searching for a reason why Dean was like this...why he was so nice. Why he wanted to be his friend.
"Dude, were you watching me sleep all night?"
Cas messed with his coat buttons, "I was....it's just complicated. I wasn't trying...it's not creepy. I mean it is but....."
"Did you have a panic attack and think your worthless and alone and decided to go find someone you think you can trust to stay with?"
Castiels eyes widened, "I.....exactly...how..."
Dean chuckled and took a lifted swig of his beer. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and smirked, bobbing his head, "yup. Been there....done that."
Cas couldn't help it..he smiled. Dean looked up and his own smile disappeared, his beer raised half point and his eyes glowing. His mouth was open like a fish out of water, and he was just staring....
"Uh...Dean" Cas frowned and squinted his eyes.
Dean closed his mouth and ran his fingers along the bridge of his nose, "Sorry, man...I must have spaced out."
Castiel chuckled and played with his hands, unsure of what to do next for now the situation was a little awkward. Suddenly, Deans phone began to ring, startling the both of them and causing the elder ( being Castiel ) to jump almost a mile high.
Dean fumbled around the bed sheets for his phone and flipped it open, bringing it to his ear and sighing a raspy "Hello" into the receiver.
Castiel watched dean as the person on the other line spoke.
Deans eyes widened and he jumped up, hands grabbing swiftly at his leather jacket and feet practically jumping into his shoes, "I'll be there in two hours."
Castiel jumped up aswell, his hands shaking and his eyes wide and glossy, "Dean? What is it!?"
Dean looked at Cas with fear in his serious brown orbs, "Sammy...theres been an accident." his voice cracked and Castiel gasped, surprised to find the tough shell that dean holds so dear begin to crumble away as the seconds ticked past.
"Let's go then!!" Castiel cried, slipping on his shoes and shouldering on his trench coat; He followed Dean out the door and the two raced towards the black impala, it's shining body standing innocently in the dusty parking lot.
"Sammy..." Dean mumbled under his breath as the car started and he pulled onto the road, Cas sitting nervously in the passenger seat.
Two hours.
Two hours until they could see if Sam Winchester would make it.
