The horses abruptly came to a stop, the yelling of the guards suddenly gone quiet.

Wide green eyes peered into the vast darkness of the carriage. A mother's warm embrace wrapping around her son.

Red, red was all the boy sees, red turns back to black. Sliding. The carriage lifts, the boy hits the side wall.

Falling.

Falling.

Crash.

The boy hits his head, and loses his sense of time.

The boy is safe now, in the arms of another who will fill the void left in his heart by his mother.
