Chat awoken with a scream. Another nightmare plagued him that night. But it was this one was different from all the others that came before.
"Mr. Noir you are the spitting image of the young prince."
The man's words echoed over and over again in Chat's head, but Chat wasn't even his real name. Chat Noir was the name given to a broken boy, lost and alone, by a village of kind hearted souls. But that wasn't who he really was.
For years the boy with the emerald eyes wondered who he really was but he never once got close to the truth. And yet the man's words.
The Prince?
Chat had heard the stories that ten years ago the young Prince had died along with his mother the Queen when their carriage was attacked by a group of bandits. But what did the Prince have to do with Chat Noir the farm boy?
Chat rubbed his temples, still worn out from the other day. But there was no way he could return to his slumber with out some form of consolation. He reached over the the cot next to him and shook his brother's leg, hoping that he might have some answer.
But that's when he remembered that Nino wasn't even his brother. He was just some kind stranger that took him in when he was lost. That befriended him in the hardest part of his short life.
"Dude what do you want? It's like the middle of the freaking night?!" Nino asked, clearly agitated by being awoken.
"What... what was the Prince's name?"
"The what now?"
"You know Prince what's his face, King Gabriel's son??"
"I think it was Adrien... why you ask?"
Adrien. Adrien. Prince Adrien.
The name was so familiar to Chat. It felt so right to him. So natural.
That's when it hit him. Like a river bursting through a dame, the flood gates of Chat's mind opened, or should I say the flood gates of Adrien's mind.
Adrien began to break out in a cold sweat. His head ached from the rush of memories. Memories of his mother, his father, his life as a prince in a palace of marble. His memories of the bandits and his mother's death.
Tears broke from his emerald eyes as he remembered her finals words, as he remembered the carriage falling off of the cliff into the abyss below. He remembered crawling out of the wreckage and falling once again into a river. Of holding on to a plank of wood for dear life as he floated away. Memories of landing on the bank of the river and limping away to find help, of collapsing from exhaustion, hitting his head in the process. Of waking up and seeing Mari's blue bell eyes.
"Dude are you ok?" Nino was sitting up in bed now. Adrien could feel his gaze on him.
"I-I remember."
Nino's eyes widened as he waited for Adrien to elaborate on what exactly he could recall.
"I-I remember e-everything..."
Adrien shook with joyful excitement and fear at the same time. If he told Nino who he really is, would his friend, his brother still care for him? No one in the village was all that fond of the King or the royal family for that matter. This was especially true after the good kind Queen died. After all of the grief that his father had caused the villagers over the years, could Adrien really bring himself to return to that selfish man?
"What what do you remember?" Nino asked again, his curiosity clearly peaked.
"I... I forgot." Adrien lied, awkwardly scratching the back of his neck. Nino faced palmed then laid back down, sleep taking him once more. But Adrien couldn't sleep, how could anyone after a memory blast like that.

A line of several knights riding majestic steeds came into town that day. All of the villagers stopped what they were doing to watch the impressive parade of armored men trot into town on their horses. Everyone was curious by why they where here. Did the village do something wrong? Was there a war somewhere and they where just passing through? Where they hunting the bandits?
Adrien was the only one who truly knew why they came. They came here for him. The blonde pulled the rim of his black cap further, trying to hide his eyes as much as possible without looking too inconspicuous.
Marinette watched him curiously. She had never seen her friend so nervous before. It was obvious that the knights frightened him so she grabbed his arm and led him down the street away from the parade.
Once they were far enough away she turned to face him. Adrien had not hit his growth spirt yet so they where still the same height. It made it easier for Marinette to look him in the eyes. Those deep pools of emerald.
"Are you alright, Chat? You seem rather jumpy today." Marinette asked her tone full of worry. But before Adrien could respond he was cut off by the voice of the cloaked stranger from yesterday.
"That's him, that's Adrien our Prince." The cloaked man called out.
Several of the knights had gotten off their horses and followed the two teens. And their surprise arrival caused Marinette to take a step back, which thanks to her bad luck and clumsiness, she tripped on the hem of her skirt and fell onto her butt.
The head knight looked at Adrien as the blonde boy bent down and helped Marinette to her feet. "Are you sure that's him?" He was clearly unimpressed by Adrien's rugged appearance and average farm boy clothes. Many villagers where gathering now due to all of the commotion.
"Yes I swear to you it is and I have proof. Many of the villagers have confirmed that ten years ago that boy mysteriously appeared in a meadow near the outskirts of town. His clothes where torn but made of silk. His memories where lost to him and his only possession was that ring, which I believe you will recognize as the Lord's Ring, one of the royal families' treasures. It was given to the Prince on his fifth birthday and was with him a year latter when he disappeared."
Several gasps of disbelief let out from the crowd. No one could believe that the local cat boy was in fact royalty. One of the knights took off his helmet and walked forward to the boy. Adrien recognized him immediately as one of his old body guards.
"Do you recognize me?" The large man asked in a deep voice. The tone sent shivers down many spines, but warmed Adrien's heart. He knew the man was intimidating but he also knew how kind the gentle giant was.
"Your gorilla. Mother used to call you that. You were her favorite..." More shocked gasps let out from the crowd. Marinette eyed the boy next to her, unsure what to make of Chat's comment.
Adrien walked forward, pulling away from Marinette's grasp. He tried to remain confident and refused to let the knights before him see just how scared he was. He needed to be brave, for her.
The gorilla gently pulled Adrien's cap off of his head to reveal the shaggy blonde locks of hair that it concealed. And now it was the knights turn to gasp. Several of which broke out into tears at the sight of their long lost prince.
