I know I was by now, loads of miles from that damned facility. The annoying alarm had ceased either from shear distance or they knew I wasn't there anymore.
Guess I should shed some light on the situation.. Basically the Earth is trashed. The Government was testing nuclear shit on some sketchy stuff in the ocean and either woke something up, or created a shittastic being hellbent on our complete annihilation.  The Government took this as an opportunity to take what was left of the human race and go underground to avoid the indestructible creature wallowing above. They first tried bombing the thing, then drowning, starving, ext. And according to rumor, there could be more of those God-awful animals just cruising.
So basically we are soooo screwed.
We can either live with a government that has no concern for it's people and only wants power, or risk escaping through one of the rare exits to the surface and take your chances with enormous creatures that bat us around like baby mosquitoes freshly hatched. I chose Plan B, because I want to see if the rumors are true. If there is more than one beast and if there is somehow a surviving human refugee type place untouched by the government. I also chose this option because of the hope for revenge of my family... They were murdered by the government...
But there's only one problem... Everyone who's made to the surface is never heard from again. And from what I've seen, Earth is a wasteland as of the moment. Death seems to surround me as far as the eye can see, a few buildings to the East, and a doomsdayish gloom has swallowed this planet. Everything was deathly quiet and nothing moved.

So far though, not a single monster the size of an Empire State Building was crashing about. Got that going for me at least.
I let my eyes fall on the ruined Earth below me, the dry soil easily kicking up dust from the slightest breeze. I cast my eyes towards the buildings to the East, watching thick columns of smoke rise from them. At least there I could find shelter and raid a store or two.. But at the same time, I could risk running into a monster. My stomach growled loudly, interrupting my thoughts.
Food it is then..
With a gun in one hand, my worn out backpack on my back, and a air of confidense, I set out towards the ruined city that used to be home to thousands.
