“Nervous?” She asked her dad
“Not at all, you?” He smiled
“As long as I have mums necklace I know im safe” Jane sighed pressing the button down on the hologram.
A woman with unnaturally blonde hair appeared in the hologram with a fake grin across her face.
“Hi im Amada Wilsh here on Channel 896 news, the weather is clear for the first three days of the year 2033 to come,” The woman smiled at them “And it’s the day that the king, David Yorks, makes his announcement in Crannet square in exactly 2 minutes!”
“ David, you are going on stage in one minute” The butler said walking poking his head around the door.
“Okay I will be out in a second” He replied.
“You ready?” he said to her.
“As always” She said flattening out her orange dress.
They stepped out of the room and over to the gold door, they waited ten long seconds until the doors finally flew open.
Jane stepped out onto the stage filled with screams yelling her name and lights flashing around her. She stumbled up the stairs to find her way to a small chair, she was familiar with the procedure and sat down with a straight back waving her hand ever so slightly.
Two guards stepped up to either side of her, shielding her from all the people screaming and holding up color full posters with her picture on it.
“Psst, how are you Jane?” the left guard whispered
“Good, how are you Sanel?” She replied
“Very good” Sanel smiled
The crowd hushed as her dad opened his mouth, about to say something that would change everyone’s life forever. Except no one knew this just yet except for herself.
“Good morning everyone, as you all know I am here to make a speech. But it is related along the topics of The Designates,” He paused and there was along silence “I think its wrong that we can take a child just because they have no family for what ever reason and send them out to war. They are still children for Christ sake! So I as king am banning Designates,” He said
There was an outbreak of yelling and shrieking as the people protested. I stood up wanting to run off the stage, but Sanel looked at me and shook his head.
“It will only make things worse” He Muttered
A loud gunshot burst through the shouting and made everyone silent; there was a faint whimpering from the crowd. Sanel covered her eyes with his hands and held her back in a tight grip.
“Let me go, I want to see what’s happened!” She snapped trying to rip herself away.
She kicked behind her aiming straight for his genitals. Salen groaned and let go, she was finally free.
She froze staring at her dad who was now lifeless on the floor.
