So this is my first story I ever wrote. I posted it originally somewhere else but some people told me to try it here too. Hope y'all like it. P.s. My editing is crap. Also, don't copy my stuff it's rude and it's stealing.

The alarm is screaming at 6:30 am.

"No one should be up this early," Aleena groans. Today she starts her internship for Dilford enterprises. She hasn't been looking for real work since graduate school, but with rent due tomorrow, and the diner cutting it her hours, she decides to sieze the day. Her friend Liam put in a good word for her and she cant pass it up. This is her dream job. This is what she has worked so hard for.

Aleena isn't your typical woman, she's been on her own for a better part of her life. Her parents died within months of eachother 18 years ago. At the ripe age of 29, she has only been in one relationship, that has left her not only emotionally scarred, but physically as well.  It's not that men don't try, she has dated, but that was before he broke her. She just has no interest in being hurt again. She is damaged goods, and if anyone saw the scars she is sure they would run. No one can deal with her nightmares. No one would be willing to put up with the emotional train wreck that is her life.

With an exaggerated sigh she rolls out of bed, takes a long look in the mirror. "Ugh! What have you gotten yourself into now girl?" Starting the shower she takes the shortest shower known to man. After blow drying her long auburn hair she decides to pin it up and curl the bottoms. Adding light make up, she walks back into her bedroom to get dressed. Her matching black lace bra and panties, deep purple knee length dress, with black pumps seem to be the winner of first day attire. Satisfied that her back isn't exposed she heads out to the kitchen for some coffee.

"Whoa! Who you trying to impress?!" Liam hoots.

"Oh Liam, knock it off, you know today is the first day." Aleena counters, "Did you make coffee?"

Aleena met Liam a few years ago when she moved to LA, hoping for a better life. More like she ran away and landed in LA. He's been a great friend. He offered her a place to stay until she got on her feet. That was 5 years ago. Liam has no interest in kicking her out, he enjoys her company and, knowing he's gay doesn't make her want to pull the fire alarm and run. This has been the most stability she's ever had.

"Are we riding over together or are you leaving now?" Liam asks

"I'm actually going to head out now, I'm so nervous I could vomit." Aleena states

"Ok well don't do that. I really like that dress. And besides, it's a really easy job." Liam says

"We shall see. I'm going to be upstairs with the bosses, you get to be out of sight. That's enough to make anyone vomit. I want to get this right. I want to prove to myself I can do this."

"Get it together woman, you can do anything you want!" Liam says. He grabs her into an insanely tight hug, slaps her ass, and sends her out the door laughing.

Standing outside the large building that is Dilford, Aleena fights back the bile that threatens. Forever unsure of herself, she pep talks herself into actually walking into the building. She approaches the desk where a very tall middle age man stands reading through all the previous night messages. He looks up as Aleena clears her throat.

"Yes?" The man flatly asks

"Good morning, I'm here for the internship with Mr. Abbot." (Good job Aleena you almost sounded confident)

"Top floor to the left. He's the last office on the right."

"Thank you." Well he had the personality of a door stop. She thinks as she heads for the row of elevators. Aleena makes it to the top floor and is greeted by another desk. Sitting behind it is the most beautiful woman Aleena has ever seen. Long blonde hair. Her blue eyes pale Aleena's. Instantly Aleena feels under dressed and completely incompetent.

"Good morning, I'm here for Mr. Abbot. I'm the new intern. I am to meet with him at 8 this morning." Aleena gets all the words out without rushing.

"Yea, well so aren't 10 others. You can have a seat with the rest of them." the lady bites out.

Aleena can't believe this lady is such a snot, she just nods her head and heads over to the others. As she sits, she looks around at everyone looking as nervous as she feels. After what seems to be eternity, her name is finally called. Another stunning blonde stands before her. "You ready? We don't have time if you're not ready." What's with these bitches, Aleena thinks to herself? "Yes I'm ready." She states with equal agitation. I maybe unsure of myself but I'm not a pushover.

As she pushed the door open, she is quickly faced with the most beautiful space she's ever been in. The office is huge! It's a warm cream color, with the far wall full of windows, that floods the whole room with light. In the middle of the room is a large oak desk. To the right of that is a love seat, two arm chairs and a coffee table. To the left, I can only assume that the door is a bathroom  and to the right of that door is a small kitchenette. This guy must spend a lot of time here to have all this in one office. I then hear the faint sound of water running. He must be in the bathroom. Should I sit? Instead I just stand there like an idiot.

The door opens, and I'm faced with Mr. Marc Abbot. And oh, is he handsome!  He's ruggedly handsome. Tall with large shoulders, dark short hair with a well trimmed 5 o'clock shadow. I can see that even in his custom fit suit, he works out...a lot. His honey brown eyes look just as surprised to see me.

"Good morning, Mr. Abbot. My name is Aleena Jordan. I'm here for the internship. I'm sorry I didn't realize it was an interview or I wouldn't have brought my notepad. I thought I was starting today."

"Good morning, your should have been aware. We sent the paperwork weeks ago. Being prepared is part of the job Ms. Jordan. I have very high standards. I don't like to repeat myself, and I expect my employees to keep the same standard. I have worked very hard to get here, this system works of us."

"Ok." Aleena was stumped. She didn't have any paperwork because Liam got her the job, or well thought she had it. She wasn't going to tell this guy that, This was a mistake. She shouldn't have come. She should have just stayed in bed.

"Now then, I think we can find a spot for you. I don't usually hire on the spot but I trust my gut. Go see Danny, she will help you get started with the paperwork."

Trust your gut?! What hell just happened?! I don't even know what I'm doing? I don't even know who Danny is? High standards my ass, nothing is clear at all. Am I in the twilight zone?

8 hours later with no lunch, and no real clear picture on what she should be doing, she made up her mind that she wasn't going to come back. Danny, or bitch face as I like to call her, was absolutely no help. As a matter of fact. No one in this company is helpful or friendly. Why would Liam like this place? Apparently you had to be a mind reader to know what the hell this company was about. Time was up. She had to at least tell Mr. Abbot she wasn't coming back. If I'm brave enough I'll tell him his company sucks.

Aleena made it to the top floor and Danny was not at her desk, thank God! As she made her way to the office she began to think of how she was going to tell him. As she rounded the corner she slammed right into Mr. Abbot himself knocking her so hard that she fell in a heap on the floor. Clearly flustered Marc grabbed her by her hands and pulled her to her feet. "Would you kindly watch where you're going Ms. Jordan?"

"That is it, I'm finished!" Aleena bit out. She should probably do this in his office and not embarrass herself, but who cares she isn't coming back. "You can take your high standards and shove them up your pompous ass! I have been here 8 hours, and I have done nothing but run in circles! I still don't know what your company does. Your employee, Danny, is a total bitch along with the rest of your staff. Is that a requirement to work here?! If this is how you make it and stay at the "top" then you can keep your stupid job. I'm leaving. Oh, and, an I'm sorry, or are you ok is the appropriate response when you crash into someone. Oh, and one more thing. I didn't have any paperwork because a friend of mine referred me to this pit of dispair. Thinking this would be a perfect fit. Boy was he wrong. Good day Mr. Abbot." With that she stomped off to the elevator. She felt like she was on cloud nine. Just seeing the look on that mans beautiful face. Shock isn't even the right word.
