The moon was especially dazzling tonight. It was covered with a layer of crimson-red clouds producing the originally elegant effulgence to appear strangely grim and mysterious, even the air also seemed to scent of blood. At three o’clock in the early morning, it was truly quiet, only the mellow sound of rustling leaves can be heard. No one was aware how odd the night sky’s reflection was.
Laying in the bed, the pain and distress was obvious on Nana's face. She screamed every ten seconds, anticipating the baby would shoot out smoothly. Although, that wasn’t the case. Nana attempted breathing excuses like the midwife suggested, yet, still, the contractions continued to wear her down.
Then, it came. A gush of water came out of her body, causing Nana to shriek.
“It’s time,” the doctor said. “I’m going to need you to push, Sawada-san”
And she listened. . . . She pushed and pushed long and hard.
〘Please come out baby boy〙, Nana thought to herself, 〘I held you warm in me long enough. It’s time to come out and see the world.〙
“Keep pushing, you’re almost there,” the doctor reminded her.
An hour past before they made progress. The head finally showed.
To Nana its not a time to sigh in relief because she will do it again for the her second child.
Immediately after the doctor cut the cord from around her neck, the crying baby boy was put on Nana's chest.
"I love you, my sky I love very very much. I'm so thankful that I delivered you in good health. But I need to deliver your twin now, okay? Can you wait a little while, my little sky?" Nana ask, looking deep into the baby’s eyes. And with that, the baby went silent. No more crying, just silent as if it understand what Nana just said.
Then a nurse looks over the baby, carries it to the table and performs the Apgar test.
Nana sigh and determined to deliver her second child "You know the drill, Sawada-san." the doctor said "You need to push. . . . now!"
She obeyed. They went on like this for a while. Breathing, chanting, and pushing. It was a repeated cycle. Nana, feeling drowsy, was beginning to pass out. Who knew how long she had left to continue on like this, it been two hours.
The baby didn’t seem like he wanted to come out, anyway. His head popped back into his mother’s body so quickly. Because of the blood being slippery, the doctor couldn’t get a good grip on the head. It wasn’t until the next long push that got the job done. Half the baby exited Nana's body and the doctor was able to pull out the rest of the body.
Nana can now breath in relief. Its now over. Nana wants to take a nap, she is exhausted like hell.
It takes 5 minutes to clean the second child. Two different nurse carry the newborn twins. The youngest twin whine then the oldest twin squeak, looks like they were talking via crying.
