"Kenzie?"
"Kenzie, are you okay?"
"Kenzie?"
"KENZIE!" Brett screamed right in front of me as I came back to reality. I looked at Brett while he said, "Are you okay?"
I nodded my head as I gathered my stuff and looked around to see the empty lecture hall. I took a deep breathe, however, I winced in pain as the scars around my neck haven't healed at all. I covered it up with a scarf this morning, but who can hide the unexplained pain embedded in my mind.
It was hard trying to fall asleep. I dreamed a dream that was nothing but a foreshadow. My dream was literally myself looking in the mirror crying. I've never seen myself in such devastation before, and seeing my own self break down like that had me scared. I don't want to feel that pain, I want to hide from it.
"Kenzie did something happen?" Brett said, bringing me back to reality again.
I gave Brett a worried expression. Should I tell him? I mean he knows too much already, and even knows what kind of situation I'm in.
Brett locked his eyes with mine as he read my expression and stopped walking as he gave me a reassuring hand on my shoulder and said, "Kenzie, what's wrong?"
"Brett," I started saying, "will you help me finding out what 2012 means?" I asked.
Brett expression went blank as he retreated his hand from shoulder and walked a few steps. My heart broke, but then-
"Kenzie, what do you think I've been doing for the last couple days?!" Brett said laughing, "God, look at your expression."
"It's not funny." I said with a straight face.
"I already know what happened." Brett bluntly said as he stared at my scarf.
My eyes widened as I started stammering saying, "Who-who-how-how-?"
"Who's the owl now?" Brett said.
"I kind of got a message from Damon to back off in a very explicit way...." Brett wandered off saying.
"Explicit? How?" I gasped. I looked at Brett to see if he had any injuries or anything but I didn't find any.
"He hacked my computer and now I can't retrieve all my good hacked filed." Brett whined.
I made a weird face as I said, "Why hack so effortlessly if you're not careful Brett-boi." I said as I patted his back.
Brett and I walked around campus and stopped in the parking lot as I said, "You need a ride?"
"Sure." Brett said as he smiled foolishly at me. He blushed a little and I was dying when I saw him being flustered. I made a straight face and threw him my key.
"You drive." I laughed as I sat in the passenger side of my car.
Brett got into the driver seat and said, "You have a unique way of giving a ride."
I yawned as I said, "1. I don't know where you live, so if I let you drive, you'll know the way better. 2. I didn't get sleep last night so I'm going to snooze."
"Do you want to stop at a pharmacy? You need some ointment for your neck." Brett said as he eyed on my scarf again. The car reversed and Brett smoothly drove along the road as I nodded my head 'no' and said, "I'm good, it doesn't hurt that much, it'll heal soon."
I closed my eyes and heard Brett sigh as we met traffic along the way.
It was when I felt the car moving again and I opened my eye to see where we were.
