She thought it would be a normal day, but boy was she wrong.
The news got out to her near the end of the day during sixth period. During that time, she was helping out in a chemistry experiment with her lab partner, Ben Broden.
"Did you turn the burner on?"
"Yeah it should be on right now."
"And so the waiting game begins."
They both sat down at their stools near the table, staring idly at the test tube, waiting for it to reach a boiling point before starting.
That's when Ben decided to break the silence.
"So you're doing surprisingly well."
"Huh?"
"I mean, if I were you I wouldn't be able to function-"
"Ben, what are you going on about?"
Ben stayed silent before he continued.
"You mean, you haven't heard?"
"No. What's going on?"
"It's your boyfriend. He, uh, well I don't know if it's true-"
"Ben."
"I only heard it from someone. Again, i'm not sure if it's true or not-"
"Ben!"
"He got Angelica pregnant."
Her eyes widened. She tried to move her mouth to say something, anything, but no words came out. Her lips then pursed together and her face tightened with every second passing.
"Oh hey look, the tube is boiling now."
And so was she.
